The Engineer's Obsession

Chapter 13

I was abruptly awoken as the table has been slammed by a heavy object.

My blood drained due to shock which resulted in coming back of my headache.

There was a silhouette of a man sitting across the table. I can feel his intimidating aura which made me feel threatened.

As I fully opened my eyes, I could see a glimpse of the man. It's Karl, he looks mad, and nothing comes out good when he's mad. Yikes.

"Karl?" I whispered.

What time is it, why is it so dark?

My head's pounding, I want to vomit. I quickly went to the sink and let it all out.

"Refuse her offer" His cold voice rang through the whole room. I feel suffocated.

"What do you mean?" I asked, still trying to reduce the pain in my head.

"Do not fool me, I know that bitch came here and offered to give you a cadou" he angrily declared as he stood up.

I was shocked, how can he know that? Did Miranda went to tell him?

"How did you know?" I asked once again.

"How do you think? Do not make me repeat myself, refuse" He walked towards me.

When he finally reached me, I feel cornered. I'm scared, I'm still not used to him being like this.

He grabbed my wrist upwards as if trying to stop me from escaping or grabbing something to protect myself.

"K-karl, please let go" I wasn't planning on doing what's in his mind, I'm just scared of him.

"It hurts, I'm begging you let go" but he wouldn't budge, instead, his grip tightened even more.

My tears suddenly fell, I'm scared.

"N-no, please, I still haven't made up my mind" my stomach churned as if there was something hurting inside me.

And that's when I realized.

"Karl, please, I swear to God. Let me go, I'm scared, the baby's scared. Do not do this" I sobbed.

There's a faint hint of confusion in his face but he finally let go of my wrist.

"Baby? Whose baby? When?" He asked one question after another.

"I.. I'm still not sure but, it's my hunch since I'm getting all the symptoms" I was vomiting, having fatigue, mood swings and all.

"I think you're gonna be a father, Karl" I sighed.

The room was filled with silence, that I can only hear was our breath.

"That's another reason why you should turn her down"

I didn't respond to his command. I don't know what to feel. I want to be with him, but I know Miranda's cooking up something.

"I will not risk your life and that thing on your womb"

"OUR child, Karl" I interrupted.

"Whatever. My point is, I don't want to lose you to that bitch. You hear me? You will refuse it"

I scoffed at him.

"You did not just do that" he said with a tone of warning.

"I know Mirander better than any of you, she's sly and cunning. And cadou can cost you your life, please hear me out!"

My eyes flung open wide as he said the last lines.

"What's that? I didn't hear the last sentence you said" I teased him.
