Chapter 19

"Oh yeah you might have heard or seen me from one of the news years before, I'm Claire. Claire Redfield" She smiled and lent out her hand.

So she's Chris Redfield's sister, the one who works at TerraSave.

I shook her hand and introduced myself, "I'm (y/n)"

Her eyes laid on my baby and it lit up, she smiled.

"Oh, and this is little Aiden, Aiden Heisenberg" I introduced her to my baby, and he cooed when Claire talked to him.

"Heisenberg? Sound familiar... Anyway, can I hold him?" She asked, I agreed.

She played with little Aiden and I've never seen him happier.

"Watcha got there?" I didn't notice a man had approached us, it seemed they knew each other.

Claire gave me back little Aiden and greeted the man "Oh hey Leon! I thought you had forgotten me" She joked. 

"How could I forget a date with you? And who might this lady be?" The man, Leon, asked.

"Leon, this is (y/n) and his baby Aiden. (y/n) this is Leon Kennedy, a close friend of mine" The man scoffed after hearing the word 'friend'

"Boyfriend, Claire" Leon corrected Claire, and she looked confused.

"What? We're dating, I'm taking you out on dates" he uttered in defense and with sadness as Claire introduced him only as a friend.

"Really? I thought you liked Ada?" She asked.

"Well, yeah... that was before, only a crush maybe" He sheepishly agreed. 

I giggled at their sudden exchange of conversation, one being confused as to what they were.

"I remember me and my man with you both, I hope you'll have a strong relationship. Now if I may, I'll let you both have your romantic date and I'll head home with little Aiden" They both scratched their head out of embarrassment.

I left them and went home to cook dinner, that was the first and last interaction I had with them. 

January 2022

I came back to work at the lab, with the Blue Umbrella Corporation's data on the existing studies from its predecessor - the Red Umbrella - the project has been progressing quite well.

Karl's remains in the pod are reacting and mutating a bit faster than usual, I feel like we'll reunite soon and be a complete family.

I hired a helper to take care of Aiden while I was at work, sometimes they visit me in the lab and some other times, I come home to take care of him.

I just can't help but miss Karl, I feel so lonely without him. But, sometimes I dream about him and it all feels real after waking up so I can't help but tear up.

Having the best education under the BSAA, I quickly caught up on the lessons I never got to study when I left my family's house. I got a degree way quicker than those in universities.

I had the idea of visiting my family but fear got to me first when I went near their house, so I left before they could even see me. I'm not strong enough to handle the trauma I had from them, I need a little bit more time, or never at all.

June 2022

I was starting to get impatient having no immediate result with Karl's revival, I was on the verge of madness and I was not seeing my son even if he cries for mommy.

Coincidentally, Chris Redfield and the Hound Wolf Squad paid another visit to the main HQ where I work. We bumped into each other while I was fuming mad out of impatience.

"Easy there" he tried to make me calm down.

"Hell no you boulder-punching asshole" I responded angrily and he looked somewhat confused.

"How do you know I punched a boulder?" He asked.

"You helped kill my husband, Heisenberg, ringing any bell?" I retorted.

"You mean, that humanoid asshole that wanted to weaponize Rose?" his forehead wrinkled.

"Did I hear my name?" A teenager sprang up behind him. I flinched when I saw her.

"Evie?" I uttered under my breath but they heard it. The girl got mad when he heard Eveline's nickname and Chris tried to calm her down.

"And how do you know about Eveline?" He asked another question.

"We're all linked, I was also kidnapped by that bitch Miranda and was rescued thanks to BSAA" I scoffed. I think I'm adapting Karl's manner of talking and that I also need to calm down at this point.

"What's your business here?" He asked yet another question.

"None of your business obviously" I answered.

"Hey, hey! Are you working on the project KEY to revive that village Lord?" I didn't answer his question because he was right on the spot.

"I won't question your judgment, just don't succumb to madness like Miranda" he advised, I scoffed and left them.

Why would I become like that bitch who imprisoned us?

He does have a point.

After retrospecting for a long time, I sought out help from a psychiatrist. I bonded with my son every time I had the chance.

After making myself better, the work has become lighter for me and the results have improved.
