"We're here, I'm so excited!" Amber said, her hand in Charlie's as they walked into the gym where the dance was being held. They all handed their tickets to their art teacher, Ms. Betts, who was in charge of the dance.
"Have fun, guys!" She smiled as they walked into the dance. Henry and Grace went over to say hi to Henry's friends. Luckily, Julie was there with Scooter so Grace talked to her a bit. Charlie and Amber went over to say hi to their teammates.
"AH! Amber, you and Charlie are so cute!" Connie exclaimed happily.
"The Amster and The Charster, finally together after a whole year of very obviously liking each other." Averman said.
"Shut it, Averman. Wait, who's this?" Amber said, looking at the girl standing next to Averman. She had medium length, straight, brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a knee length red dress with a flowy bottom.
"My date, Hailey Ryan." Averman said.
"Hi, Hailey! I'm Amber." She smiled.
They talked with their teammates and their teammates' dates for a little while before Amber's favorite song came on. "Charlie, can we go dance?" She asked.
"I'm terrible at dancing, Am."
"Same, let's go be terrible together!" Amber said, dragging him onto the dance floor. He rolled his eyes, but he was happy and smiling. They danced and danced, for a while. Amber also shared some dances with her other friends. She was dancing with Charlie, having tons of fun, when Amber noticed Bradley leaving the gym.
"Charlie, I'll be right back." Amber said. She followed Bradley into the hallway. He was sitting down, against the lockers. "Bradley?"
"Amber, go back in the dance. We don't both need to have a shitty night." Bradley said.
"What's wrong?" She said, sitting across from him.
"Everyone here has someone. The girl I like, my best friend, both of my best friends actually. But I don't. I just have to sit here watching everyone else have fun."
"Bradley, you'll find someone eventually."
"I thought I did..." He said, looking down.
"Bradley, if the person you like... doesn't feel the same, that means they aren't your someone. Just please don't ruin your night. Dance with your friends!" She stood up and held her hand out, "Come on."
Bradley lightly smiled and took the girl's hand. She helped him up and they walked into the gym.
"Hi, Bradley!" A pretty blonde girl said, waving.
"Hey, Zoey!" He replied.
"Who was that?" Amber asked.
"Some girl in my math class."
"She's pretty."
"Shut up." Bradley rolled his eyes. She liked how they could still talk like normal, even after a fight or a complicated conversation.
"Bradley, maybe you should go talk to her. You need to talk to people to meet your somebody."
"Fine." He said and walked towards the girl. Amber smiled and went back to her date.
"What happened?" Charlie asked.
"Bradley just needed some advice. He's talking to some girl now, Zoey from his math class."
"You're really setting everyone up tonight, aren't you?"
"Who else?"
"Henry and Grace. You made them both wear lilac. I know you and I know that wasn't a coincidence."
"Whatever." They laughed.
It was almost the end of the dance when a slow song came on. The second it started, Charlie grabbed Amber's hand, pulling her away from dancing with Connie and Julie. He twirled her towards him, her landing right in front of him. "Hi." She laughed.
"Hi, Amber." He smiled, sweetly.
She wrapped her arms around his neck as he put his hands on her waist. They stared into each other's eyes and danced.
"Amber, I want to talk to you." Charlie said. He sounded serious and really nervous.
"Okay? What is it?" Amber asked.
"This is really- Jeez, I'm nervous."
"Charlie, come on! You don't need to be nervous with me. Just tell me." Amber said, beginning to get nervous herself. He was worrying her.
"Amber, I love hanging out with you. You're so sweet, funny, fun, interesting, pretty, amazing. You're just- you're so perfect. And this dance has probably been the best night of my life. Seeing you when you opened that door, taking those pictures, sitting with you in the car, dancing with you all night: it's all been amazing. I feel like we've already been acting so much like a couple, but I want to make it official. Will you be my girlfriend?"
"Yes! Charlie, I feel the same exact way. You are the most perfect guy I've ever met. You're always so funny and nice and really, insanely cute. I would love to be your girlfriend, Charlie."
"Perfect because I'd love to be your boyfriend."
Amber smiled and Charlie leaned down, kissing her once again. The whole night just felt so magical.
Soon, the music stopped and the magic was all coming to an end. The group met in the hallways. Bradley had walked there happily with Zoey, causing Amber to smile. She was thankful he had found his someone and had a fun night.
They were about to leave the dance but Amber had an idea. "Guys! Come with me."
"Where are we going, Am?" Grace questioned, very confused.
"You'll see." Amber smiled mischievously.
They ran through the hallways, Charlie and Henry figuring out where they were headed. They were all smiling and laughing through the halls until they finally arrived at their destination: the ice.
"Am, what are we doing?" Charlie asked.
"Skating!" She said. They ran to the locker rooms. Other than Charlie, Henry, and Amber, who already had their skates in the locker rooms, they all had to borrow skates from the lost and found. They all went onto the ice. Zoey and Evie didn't know how to skate but Bradley and Ross had tons of fun attempting to teach them. The night ended amazing for everyone.
Amber and Charlie were skating around laughing and smiling. Amber laughed and smiled, "So, Charlie, if I'm a princess on ice... does that make you a prince?"
