Monday 23rd January 2021

The alarm begins to ring in my ear as my dream is interrupted. I look at the time. 6:20 am. I really can't be arsed to go in today, but I feel obliged due to what Xavier gifted me last night. The sage bike. I still can't believe he bought that for me. Although, following his current attitude he's probably got Sophie the same thing. Anyway, I roll out of bed and walk to my closet where I threw on my uniform and put on light makeup consisting of mascara, concealer, and blush. I run downstairs and have a quick bowl of cereal and make my way over to my bag. I put the books needed for the day in my bag and walk over to my new bike. I place my bag in the straw basket and hop on. It felt like heaven. The seat was firm enough to not be painful, but also meant I didn't sink into the seat, unlike the 15-year-old bike I had as a hand me down from my dad my entire life. I slide off the bike and walk it out of the house. I close the door behind me and cycle to school.

I notice Xavier's car is already there, to make a statement I park the bike on the rack nearest his car so he knows. I make my way down to my first lesson, Biology.

When I arrive, I spot Charlotte and Ellie in their usual seats. I rush past the desks and chairs and sit next to Ellie.

'Hey, guys.'

'Hey, Bella! How are you?' Ellie responds.

'That's what I should be asking you! What happened with you and Leo last night?' I question.

Charlotte leans in ready for the tea spilling.

'I asked him if we could speak privately so I took him into a different room. I asked him if it meant anything to him, and how it affected our relationship. He just said that he was drunk and didn't really remember what happened. I got pissed because it obviously meant nothing to him so I just left without saying anything else.

'What a fucking dick!' Charlotte exclaims.

'It obviously shows that he likes you, he's just trying to conceal his feelings - and he's going about it terribly.' I add trying to comfort Ellie.

'Yeah, I guess. I'm just going to ignore him for now and see if he bothers to make a conversation with me.' Ellie replies with a sigh.

After that, we were silenced by the teacher and got through Biology. My next lesson was Maths with Allen. I stood up and left the classroom with Charlotte and Ellie who tailed off to go to their individual lessons.

Because I started halfway through the year, everyone in maths had already been put into groups for a project. Because of this, our teacher gave me the choice of who I wanted to join. I had only managed to speak to one person in maths so far, Allen. So I chose to group with Allen who was already in a group with a guy called Gerald. He was ginger and relatively small, although his humour definitely shined through all of that.

When I arrived at the classroom I scanned the room searching for Allen and Gerald. When I found them, I made my way over to where they were seated.

'Hey, Bella!' Allen exclaims.

'Hey, Allen. So, what's our project about?' I question.

Before Allen could reply to me, Gerald had already jumped in to answer.

'We're doing calculus

'Oh great, I love calculus.' I sarcastically reply.

As we were doing our project, I got to talk to Allen about the weekend that had just occurred.

'I was wondering, why have you adopted the nickname avocado? It makes no sense to me.' I whisper to Allen so I don't disrupt Gerald's work ethic.

'Haha It's a weird one, I know. I didn't chose it, believe me. When I first joined the school in year 7 I would religiously eat Avocados every day. But one day, I was finishing it off and accidentally choked on the pip. Xavier saw and helped me cough it. That's actually how I became friends with them all.' Allen says while chuckling.
