When I woke up today, everything felt different. Because every wolf felt different. We werent the one to quention stuff. We didn't have the right. So we slaves went about our day. Working. Suddenly Cara called us all. She is in charge of us.she was the one who told us what to do and took care of us. When we all gathered around she filled us all in with horrifying news.

“The werewolf king is dead,” she said.

That left a gasp among the slaves. The death of the king was unexpected. He was worshipped by the wolves. No surprise why wolves felt different today. They can feel each other. So if the king dies, the wolf will feel it in their soul.

However, I didn't feel sad. I can keep a poker face in the crowd. But the truth is I despise them. They are the reason for our downfall.

But that also meant there would be imbalance and conflict among the werewolf community. That can cause problems for us humans. And let's not forget about other spices. The vampire, fae, mermaids, witches. They can start war. Refuse werewolf dominance. That can create problems too.

While I was deep in my thoughts, Robin, a slave among us and my friend asked the real question.

“What will happen now? Who will be the next king?” she asked. She is always the smart one. Asking the main question. Figuring out problems. That is the reason why she is always  chosen to do the important tasks. Even the Alpha and Luna are also pleased with her.

“That was where I was going,” Cara said, narrowing her eyes at Robin. “Before you intercepted me.”

Cara is kind to us. She makes sure we don't get into trouble and almost makes living here bearable. She is in her late 30s now. short , auburn hair, round face but with strict action. Always very flexible. That's why she could adapt herself faster than others. But she gets annoyed when someone intercepts her. And no one here does that job better than Robin.

“The next king is going to be Alpha's eldest son,” said Cara. “And when he does become the king, some of the members of the pack will have to go to the castle. To show our support and submission. And some of you have to go too.”

“Why us? And when?” asked our ever impatient robin.

“Because there would also be gifts and you all have to carry that. And next week.” finished Cara.

The whole group started mumbling and discussing among us. That makes sense. I nudged Robin, who was beside me, and said “Bet you have to go”

She gave me a smirk and told me “ what can i say? Everyone loves me” that brought a giggle from me.

“ But on a serious note, the king's death was unexpected. He was too young to die at this time” she said while we both left to go to the dining room. It was almost dinner time. We have to prepare the table.

“Death is always unexpected. No one can tell when you die. We have to accept it. I am just worried about what will happen now. To us humans.” I said, Placing the plates on the table.

“That's true. I am worried too. Hopefully the new king won't be that bad.” Robin said. “But on the bright side we can go and see the castle. That would be an experience.”

“I don't know if I am gonna be there or not,Robin.” I said but hoped I would get to go there. It's been ages since I left this pack. This town. Won't be bad to go and see the castle.

“Of course you will. I will talk to Cara about it. If I am going, so are you.” said Robin confidently all the while scraping the dirt outside of a glass.

I laughed. She is funny at times. And cute when she is determined.

“ But you can't be sure about that,” I reminded her.

“Wait and see, Theia. Wait and see,” she said with a small smirk. “Nothing is impossible”

And I did. After the dinner Cara said i will also accompany Robin with other 4 slaves to the castle. Which led me and robin to jump up and down for a minute before we realized that can get us both killed. So we calmed down. But the excitement in my belly didn't.

I have no idea why but the thought of going to the castle made me nervous and thrilled at the same time. Most likely because I haven't seen the earth outside this town. Whatever the case is, I somehow knew that would have a big impact in my life.
