CHAPTER VIII

⚪CHAPTER VIII: Deja Vu⚪

*ring*

"Yup?"

"Busy ka?"

"Katatapos lang ng last exam ko ngayong araw. I'm at the cafeteria. Bakit?"

"I'll come pick you up. Hintayin mo ako d'yan."

"Hmmm.. Okay.."

"Nathan... Let's go.." A female voice is what I heard. Hindi ko maiwasan ang inis. He must've thought that the call already ended.

"Sorry, I won't join you today, Erica."

Tch. I ended the call with an annoyed look. Alam ko naman na wala talagang mali pero trip kong topakin kaya whatever.

For more than a year, my feelings towards him has bloomed. And we both decided to just agree with our families' plans. And honestly? I think everything that is happening to us are meant to happen. So might as well just follow.

I rarely dream about him these past few months. I don't know why but I suggest it is because I am happy now. And I see those dreams as hallucinations brought by my trauma before.

Everything's going smoothly. We are just waiting for me to finish studies then we can proceed with the marriage thingy.

"Babe." He greeted, smiling, as he walks towards the corner where I am studying.

"Hey.. Ang bilis ah? Akala ko kasama mo pa si Erica eh," I sarcastically said as I fix my things. Hindi naman na niya ako pinansin. Sanay na siguro. Hayaan na nga.

Pagkatapos kong ayusin ang gamit at maiserve ang take-out coffee ni Nathan ay umalis na kami. As always, he opened the car door for me. A unique trait of him that never changed since our day 1.

"Sino nga ulit si Erica?" I lied. I will still talk about it. Duh.

"Just an old classmate who works for my mom now..."

"Saan ba dapat kayo pupunta?" pag-uusisa ko.

"Wala naman... Ayoko din namang sumama," he started driving.

"Saan nga?"
"Some bar. It's her birthday." Tango na lamang ang naisagot ko.

"Sana sumama ka na lang..Hindi mo naman ako responsibilidad," mahinang bulong ko pero parang narinig pa rin niya.

He stopped the car and looked at me intently that I had to divert my gaze. Failed. Nathan made me face him, grabbing my chin gently. I stared straight at his eyes as he wants me to do.

"It's not a responsibility. I want to be with you. I want to fetch you from school and take you home safely. As for Erica, I know she likes me but it doesn't mean that I should like her back. I won't entertain others just because I have a girlfriend... but because I love you and I'm just yours. Stop over-thinking, okay? Masyado ka nang toyoin." He patted my head and I just nodded with whatever he is saying.
