Road Trip
"Si, Eomma (Yes, mom)," I say into the phone while wrapping up the breakfast sandwiches I made for Byul and I.
We are hitting the road today to head to Jeju for the week, and I for one couldn't be more excited. I haven't been home in a while, so I'm excited to see my family again and happy to take a trip with Moonbyul to just relax. We dropped off Chef and Mr. G at Wheein's apartment last night so we could just wake up and go this morning, or so I thought. My mom called me at 5 am and we've been on the phone ever since. While my mom was excited I was coming home, she was nervous about the massive snowstorm due to stretch across the east coast through the Midwest, her biggest fear was that I would be stuck and stranded alone in the dark and freeze to death and she can be a little dramatic. Even though I assured her Byul and I would be fine but she's still was panicking, which was evident by the Spanish she was rambling in my ear. Moonbyul walked up behind me and kissed me on the cheek while rubbing my sides before she grabbed a handful of grapes from the bowl on the counter and popped a few in her mouth. I turned my head and caught her lips quickly while winking at her.
"Si, Eomma, Moonbyul got the oil changed in the car yesterday," I tell my mom for the 3rd time this morning. "Si, Eomma, we will fill the car with gas too."
"Hola señora, Kim!" Moonbyul yelled out happily as she held up the bowl of berries I just rinsed off and pointed to the blender. I nod at her and then point to myself to let her know I'll make the smoothies for us.
I roll my eyes and point to the phone. "Si, Eomma," I say while smiling and handing Moonbyul the phone. A few days ago I was on the phone with my mom getting a recipe from her when she heard Moonbyul in the background and demanded to speak with her, that turned into a two-long conversation between the two of them with Moonbyul laughing loudly every few moments and talking in Spanish. So, it's safe to assume my mom loves her already. I ended up falling asleep on the noisy pair and cuddling with Chef on the couch, while Byul rubbed my legs.
Moonbyul instantly started speaking in Spanish to my mom on the phone, which made my heart swell in all types of awesomeness. I finished wrapping up the sandwiches quickly and got started on our smoothies. Moonbyul came back in the kitchen with a smile and slipped my phone in my back pocket while copping a feel on my butt in the process. I look up at her and kiss her on the neck quickly.
"What did my mom want to talk to you about?" I ask her slowly as she hugs me from behind and rests her chin on my shoulder as she begins to kiss my neck slowly.
"Just to warn me about the snow, and tell me not to let you drive when the snow starts," Moonbyul laughs.
I quickly frown and turn around in Moonbyul's arms. "Why not?" I ask her.
Moonbyul walks us backward so my back is on the counter. "Apparently you're a bad driver," She then laughs out.
"Whatever," I reply, my mom has never been a fan of my driving and I'm either driving too fast or too slow for her. "Are you ever scared when I drive?" I ask Moonbyul as I link my hands behind her neck.
Moonbyul pretends to think for a moment. "Well..."
My jaw drops in horror. "You are so lying," I tell her quickly.
"I trust your driving, Yongie," She then smiles before kissing me softly on the lips. I deepen the kiss and pull Byul closer to me as she runs her arms up and down my back.
