Sammy is Lost (Autism)

! Disclamer: this was written a few years ago, but i recently discovered it again going through old notebooks !

i do not mean to offend anybody with autism and this is only for Entertainment.

Harries pov:

It was a nice day today. Warm, but not too hot making things uncomfortable. There was a huge variety of people at the beach today. Tourists, backpackers, locals that all did different things. Some were enjoying cold drinks and snacks, while others were out swimming or chilling on the beach. a part of me wants to join them, but its our jobs to keep them safe and leaving the beach alive. At the moment, i was working in the tower looking out over the ocean and the large majority swiming, wether they could or not. Multiple phonecalls were coming in yet it seemed calmer then normal.

"Hey Harries? Do you think that girl is okay?" Jethro asked pointing towards a girl right infront of the tower. "She seems a bit stressed" He said before looking back up at the water. I looked at her and could tell that she was'nt okay. She was pacing back and forth infront of us with something in her hands. "She looks fairly young Harries" Jethro said after having cleared the water momentarily.

"i'll go check on her" i said as i got up and walked out and down the stairs. She had stopped walking and now just stood stil. I walked up to her and asked her "excuse me, are you alright darling?"

She only looked at me for a second before looking away answering simply with a no. i crouched down a little bit to avoid towering over her before asking what was wrong. "I'm lost" she said turning the head the other way, stil not looking at me. I gave her my famous smile showing my pearly white teeth. "It's okay darling, what is your name?" i asked. "My name is Sammy" the young girl answered. "can you tell me how old you are?" i asked as i cought a glims of her eyes looking at me for a second. I was shocked when she told me she was 17 as she looked much younger, mostly because of her height. "Would you like to come inside while we help look for your parents?", She only nodded in response.

We went up the stairs and into the tower and i told her she could take a seat before talking to Jethro. "She's lost" i said as i turned around grabbing a cool waterbottle ang giving it to Sammy. "So Sammy" Jethro started turning towards her as i looked over all the swimmers. "is there anything we should know about you?". it was silent for a while, "I have Autism... and i like the color blue" i could hear her say. i gestured for Jethro to take over while i got the radio ready. "Do you remember what your parents were wearing?" i asked. "She looked at the unopen waterbottle, My mom was wearing a red dress... my dad is at work"

"Okay then, we are gonna help find your mom now okay?" I stated before speaking into the radio. "Sentral to everybody, we've got a lost teen with autism, 17 years old, named Sammy, her mom wearing a red dress" i took a small breath before continuing. "To identify, Sammy is wearing a gray swimmingshorts, a light blue t-shirt with a see-through blouse on top". I got a few copies in return.

"Okay hun, how would you like to see if you can find your mom through these?" i asked holding out a pair of binoculars for her. Sammy looked at them but shook her head no. I understood it might be difficult for her, but it would be quite difficult for us to find her mom in these crouds. A red dress was very normal to wear you know. While looking for her mom we had to keep our eyes vigilant towards the ocean as our highest priority. It would be more likely that her mom would find us.

Kerrbox pov:

I had just finished my break andwas now walking into the tower at Tamarama. i sat down, picked up my pair of binoculars and started watching the waters. It was rather quiet in the tower untill the radio went of. "We think we see the mom" i heard it say. I looked over at mouse and asked about what was happening over at bondi. "Oh, it's just that they found a lost 17 year old girl with autism" I looked ahead, 'Wait what?' "Was her name Sammy by any chance?" "Yeah! How did you know?"

"Cause i think it's my kid."

I grabbed my radio, "Tamarama to Bondi" "We hear you" "What was her last name?",it was silent on the other side for a while, "Sammys last name is Kerr". It was my kid! I looked over at Mouse asking if he could hold the fort for a while.

Harries pov:

It had been over 30 minutes before we got a radiocall concerning Sammy. "Rhino to sentral" "yes Rhino" Jethro answered. "We think we see the mom". "Okay, can you go talk to her and verify?" "yes, we will do that right now".

I looked over at Sammy to see if she would show any emotion knowing she heard the radio, but there were no emotions on her face that i could see. Then we got a radiocall coming from Tamarama. "Tamarama to Bondi" "We hear you" i answered. "What is the girls last name?" Well i didn't know. i got on my knees in front of her, "What is you last name darling?"

"My last name is Kerr"

I quickly report back "Sammys last name is Kerr". I thought 'Is this Kerrbox's daughter?'. None of the lifeguards had seen his daughter in many years.

The radio piped up and said. "we're bringing up the mom right now."

"I'm coming to" piped the radio, "requesting a switch at Tamarama". I knew it was Kerr on the other side.

I could see through the window that the rhino was indeed coming toward us with a lady in a red dress. I watched as Sammy's mom walked up the stairs with the rhino leaving in the background. I went over towards the door to let her mom in. She walked quickly over to Sammy and opened her arms waiting for her daughter to hug her. "There you are honey!" She said letting out a sight, "I was so worried about you".

"Thank you" Said the mom, looking over Sammys shoulder. i simply smiled and nodded before looking over the waters again. They walked to the side to not stand in the way as we treated other people in the tower as the rip had gotten stronger.

It did not take long before i heard somebody opening the back-door and almost sprinting up the stairs. "What happened? Are you okay?" Kerrbox asked his daughter before burrying his whole family into a big hug. "I'm okay dad" Sammy said after the hug broke. "Okay? okay.." Kerrbox said while looking over her, "I'm glad:)".

Lets just say Kerrbox had some explaining to do about the unknown wife and daughter:)
