4 - If it bloomed in Winter

Under the pallid sky, I travelled with the wind
Fast as lightning, blazing through lamented trees.
Lacerated by emaciated hands, I was skinned
Right to the bone, and then I fell on my knees.

My frame weakened and I took the form of a feather
Swimming through the air as I settled on the snow
Tufts of ice floated in the air traveling towards the aether
Like wisps carrying painful memories in their glow

Like a corpse, I lay down in the snow as shadows approached
Travelling in the air, as a ghost, converting light to sin
I turned to a side, a delicate flower stood as it encroached
My lonely downfall imposed by those who wear a righteous skin

My bright eyes saw the flower bloom, petals shining
Like silvery brushstrokes in the sky - of water, of air
Pure, intangible - my little silver lining
But the shadows, impossible tasks it will do to ensnare

It pollutes the air, blocks out the sun, dries up the seas
And once caught, the flower withered and decayed
The shadows loomed over as it ignored my pleas
Covered in darkness, the snow fell and I lay betrayed.

And then I awoke, familiarity around me - I was back in the isle
The stiffness of the bed, stillness of the air, darkness of the room
Between crevices ghostly light crept into my exile
There by the sill laid a lone seed small and light as a plume

Upon my ailing hand, I observed the little seed
If it grew, can it ease my heart that's so bitter?
Of life, of love, of justice - to satiate my needs
But really I wonder if it could bloom even in my winter
