Match wanted to go back to her apartment, but she'd already told everyone she'd met where she was going. She didn't want to go home, only to find out that Lefty was in there throwing out stuff she owned.

She sat next to her car and sighed. Everything felt so strange.

Most of the police seemed to be covering up something. When she asked something, they just laughed and walked away. She then tried to find the footage near Matty's house, but to her surprise, all of the data for that night was wiped clean. It seemed like something was blocking her way to discover the truth.

She looked up. It wasn't dark yet. She decided to pay Matty a visit. After all, that was the reason why she was here. However, she forgot to bring her notepad. Luckily, she did bring her phone, so she called Bandana.

"Hello? Who is this?" Bandana asked.

"It's Match. I was wondering if you know Matty's address." Match said.

"Didn't you write it down?" Bandana asked.

"Uhhhh... I kinda lost it." Match said. She didn't want him to know the real reason. "I accidentally dropped it into Derby River. I've got a new one now, so can you say it again, please?

"Ape Road, Number 24." said Bandana. "Say, why didn't you ask the local police? They're bound to know everyone and everything that happens around there."

"Well, I think the police are acting strange. A guy named Lefty looked like he was about to kill himself."

"Ok..." Bandana said worriedly. "Um... I need to go out now, one of my friends, Headband, has asked me to play basketball with her. Catch you later!"

Match sighed again. She wondered what Pencil was doing now. It had been a long time since she and Pencil hang out. She remembered the time she went surfing and accidentally fell off. Pencil went and brought Match and her board back to shore. Old times....

                                                                                   ***

"Ape Road, 24..." Match murmured to herself. When she got there, she began looking around the house, and she found a cracked window. "So this must be where someone cracked the window."

She knocked on the door. A welcoming mat, probably a bit grey in color, came to the door.

"Hello, is this Matty's house?" Match asked.

"Yes. And you are...?" Matty answered.

"I'm Match, a detective that is working for the police department to investigate about the incident that happened near the window of this house. I'm going to ask you a few questions, and I'm gonna come into your house and search for clues."

"Oh, did Bandana send you?" Matty said.

"That has absolutely nothing to do with you." Match replied. "Anyway, where were you and what were you doing when the window broke?"

"Um... I was just about to go to my favorite restaurant. May we go now? I'll pay for your food. You may wanna ask me questions there." Matty said.

"Alright, but be quick." Match said.

They walked to a restaurant not far from her house. It looked quite old, probably more than 200 years old. A sign on it said:  Supreme Seafood! They walked in.

Someone said: "Welcome to Supreme Seafood! How may I help you?" It was a compact umbrella. Next to her was a hexagon. They were both preparing food.

"Table for two, please." Matty said.

They walked to a table next to a window. The other seats were all full of customers.

"Heh, looks like it's pretty popular among everyone!" Match said. "Anyways, what do you want to-"

"SALMON! ALL THEY HAVE IS SALMON! WHY THE HECK DON'T THEY HAVE ANYTHING ELSE? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I COME HERE, EXPECTING A MEAL FULL OF BEEEEEEEEF FROM THIS FIVE STAR RESTAURANT AND WHAT DO I GET? 20 BURGERS FULL OF SALMON! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH———" someone screamed. A nest without eggs was complaining to the hexagon. Her screams were so loud that Match had the close her invisible ears.

She looked back. Now the nest was vigorously shoving lots of salmon into her mouth. "Crazy girl." Match said to herself.

"So, they really do only have salmon, huh?" Match said. Matty nodded in agreement. "Well, maybe I'll skip eating—"

Matty suddenly looked angry. "I'm paying for this, and it's too expensive for you to resist. Just choose something on the menu."

Match was surprised. "Ok, well maybe I'll take it back to my apartment and—"

"No! This restaurant strictly requires you to finish your food here, so you're not leaving this place." Matty snapped.

"Matty seems to be acting strange, and I think it might be about the fish." Match thought. "Well, I'll go and dissect the fish at home, but how do I—"

Suddenly, she heard a loud thud behind her. She whipped her head around and saw the nest laying on the ground, dead.

"Oh my, how-!" Match yelled. The nest looked grayer then she was before. Match looked at her face. She was definitely dead. She had to investigate. Normally, objects dying to fire, water, or anything that kills them is normal, but objects dying by themselves? Not normal. The problem was, no one even cared. This stuff could've been in the news for what she knows. Or maybe this was a regular thing in Boinks.

She came closer to the nest. Match thought she maybe died to overconsumption, but she would have exploded and then the whole room would be covered in twigs and dried hay. Maybe she had a heart attack? No, her heart didn't explode. Then the fish...

Match quickly took her fish and said to Matty: "Matty, I'm leaving. I have to investigate this. I'll take the fish as evidence."

Matty began pulling out an axe. "You're not going anywhere."

Match began running back to her car with Matty chasing right behind her. "YOU GET BACK AND EAT YOUR FISH! HERE'S MATT-"

Match got into her car and took her gun out. "STOP RUNNING OR I'LL SHOOT YOU!"

Match suddenly heard a gunshot from the trees. Matty stopped. The bullet was just an inch away from her cloth.

"Who the match shot that?" Match thought. Her thoughts were stopped by another sound. Matty was crying, and Match went over, took the axe, and asked: "What did you just d-"

"Nothing! Nothing! I swear! I wanted to get us out in a normal way, so I took the axe I always carry, and —"

"I'll take the axe." Match said. Matty nodded in agreement. She got into her car and drove back to her apartment. "This is the strangest day of my life.." she thought.

It was 10:00p.m. when she opened her door. "I'll dissect the fish tomorrow, and I'll look at the axe for clues. Anyways I'll just read a book I have here." she thought. The book she picked out was a book called: Lock and the Sport of Kings by A. Corndole. Nobody knew what A meant, but she knew it was a good story. It was about a Lock and his friend Stethoscope investigating a missing object named Silver. She had read the story hundreds of times, but she still loved it.

When she finished reading the book, she slept. It was a long day, and it's not gonna get better.

Ok, so I may have underestimated how much I could write though. Nope, it's still too short.

So yeah, first part. Not bad huh? Let me know below what you think about it. Find 2 references.
