✿ James, 7:10am, Wednesday ✿
I sip on coffee as I read the morning news. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs to be greeted by my daughter, Sierra. " Hey sweetheart. How'd you sleep?" I asked her as she grabbed some juice from the fridge. Good morning dad, I slept well, and you?" I nodded and replied. I slept okay,my new job kept me up most of the night. Anyway, you want some breakfast before your first day of school ?" I hope she is okay, since we decided to move for my new Job. She replied and then left to drive to school.
Kelly, my wife, came downstairs and rolled her eyes at me. "What now?" I said, "You should've taken Sierra to school since it's her first day at a new school. And I hope you don't plan on staying late at that job." Sighing, I said, "No Kels, and your right I'm sorry." Our relationship has been a little rocky over the past couple years. Lately , I question if I still even love her.
"Alright," she said, "I forgive you I guess."
————————————————————- James entered the building to his new office. He was a Chief Operating Officer. "Yo James!". James turned his head, with a confused look on his face. "Do I know you?" He asked the man. "Haha. No but I assumed you are James since you look a little lost. I'm Rick by the way. Let me show you around."
After being shown around, Rick introduced him to a few people . There was Sandra, the assistant, Leah the Office Clerk, Eric the Office Manger and several others. "I think we went to school together." Sandra said. She has red hair and seemed a little younger than James so there was no way they went to school together. " Really? I don't think I remember you." He said scratching the back of his head. "Oh well we went to school together when you were a 6th grader and I was a 1st grader. I know it's strange for me to remember but you were so famous back in our little ole' town."
"Oh that makes sense," James said. He couldn't help but stare at Sandra. She was beautiful and the fact that she knew him had him wishing to know her a bit more.
"Alright James, let me show you your office and then you can get settled and start working."

✿ Lunch 11:45pm ✿
James was about to go to his car for his lunch break when he heard a voice yelling for his name. "James! Wait for me!" He turned around and saw Sandra. "Oh did you need something?" He asked. "Yeah, I was wondering if you wanted to have lunch together." Sandra twirled her hair and James nodded and gestured for her to get into the car.
While in the car ride, they chatted about the town they were from and how he stopped playing baseball. "We thought you were going to go Pro. I'm surprised you didn't." Sandra said. James chuckled. "Yeah. That's what everyone thought but if I'm being honest, the only reason I played baseball was because of my father."
"Well I bet he is proud of the man you've become."
James clenched his hands on the steering wheel. "We actually haven't talked to each other since I graduated high school. He was hard on me and just verbally abusive." Sandra placed her hand on his lap. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed." James took one of his hands off the steering wheel and squeezed hers. "It's fine, you didn't know."
After lunch James and Sandra walked into the office together. Rick greeted them at the door of the building. "Glad to see you getting along with Sandra. Hope you like this place and the team." He said patting ricks back.
The day flew by and before James knew it, it was time For him to leave. He grabbed his stuff and saw Sandra heading into the elevator. He quickly put his jacket on and rushed into the elevator. "Oh hey you." Sandra chuckled as James tried to catch his breath. He replied back and they both waited in the elevator in silence. "I really don't want to ride the taxi but oh well. " Sandra said breaking the silence.'" The elevator door opened and as they walked out James offered her a ride.
————————————————————— ✿ 2:40 pm. ✿
I heard a loud banged and I quickly took my hands off Sandra. Sh* I thought to myself. Sierra stood there awkwardly and I tried to run toward her but she hurried and closed the door and left. "Omg, who was that?" Sandra asked, getting up and straightening her dress out. "My daughter, I told her."
Sandra looked at me with wide eyes. "Your daughter?" I nodded. "My wife and I adopted her when she was just a baby since we couldn't have kids of our own." Sandra nodded and then the realization hit her. "you have a wife?" Sighing, I grabbed her by the shoulders and sat both of us down. "Yes, but if I'm being honest with you it's been a little rocky lately."
She wrapped her arms around me and said "I understand but you need to tell her what we did...!" . I took a long stare at her because of the dumb comment she just made " I know but it's going to take me some time things aren't as easy as they seem" I leaned back on the couch and ran my hands down my face .
"I just hope Sierra doesn't tell Kelly."....
