I woke on the morning of the last day at home at about 7:10, as my eyes fluttered open I groaned realizing what today was. Nonetheless (not wanting Lena to come up and shriek at me), I got up going into the bathroom to wash up. I picked out a simple red top that had fringes at the sleeves, pairing it with the black jeans every participant had to wear. I clipped my small songbird necklace (which had belong to my mother) on to my neck. I placed a daisy in my light blonde hair (which i must have inherited because none of my parents have blonde hair), hurrying down the stairs to find everyone at the breakfast table. I ate a quick breakfast of oatmeal with strawberries and honey with orange juice to drink.
"I'm so excited!" Lena squealed for the sixteenth time. " You do realize I'm the one going right?" I questioned. She replied immediately, "So? When you become queen I can brag that I'm your sister!" I rolled my eyes at how she exaggerated that word, as if. "Come on boys! Finish your breakfast we got to get going!" Mom hurried, pushing everyone out the door. We were about six feet from our front door when I realized I forgot my shoes. Dad laughed, so did mom but Lena seemed annoyed, "Ugh! Seriously Rose! We are going to be late, then you'll never meet the Prince and live happily ever after!" Deciding that I didn't want to be late either I hurried back inside and picked out a pair of white ballet flats.
As we got to the Province square i could see a crowd, I started to internally panic, I hated crowds. the mayor came up to me, "Would you like to say anything?" I gave a nervous laugh, "U-um, no thank you, I'm too nervous." He chuckled, nodding. After my farewells, Lena's consisting of much squealing, mom and dad's had a bit of tears, while Elec's and Shalom's was short and to the point, they'd miss me, I entered a car that took me to the airport.
As soon as I got into the plane I spotted two girls, one I recognized as Alice Wintergreen, a two from Carolina who was sitting quietly staring out the window. The other girl whom introduced herself as Florie, she said she was from Allens. We talked for a while while waiting for the last girl, I actually enjoyed her company which was surprising as I thought everyone here would be vying for blood, I also discovered that she was a 4.
Alice looked up for the first time, we looked over to the door, hearing the clicking of heels on the floor. An euroasian looking girl walked in, she had long chestnut colored hair and gold-ish eyes she was wearing a white and black cropped-halter top with the same jeans as us. Florie tried to be nice, "Hi! Your Bridgette Barlowee right? I saw you in a magazine!" Bridgette just rolled her eyes and went to sit in the very back, pulling out a Lifestyle Magazine. I scoffed, realizing she was that type of girl, one who thought she was better than everyone.
I soon went back to talking with Florie as the plain started it's departure to Angeles. I learned that Florie was the only child, that her parents were Jewelers who owned a high-end Jewelry store.
The planes stopped, we all walked out, greeting rows and rows of various admirers, I watched as Bridgette waved to her many fans, smirking smugly at us. I had quite a few people cheering for me too, I smiled at them and signed a few things and took pictures, then running to catch up with everyone.
As we were seated in a sleek black limo Bridgette wouldn't stop bragging about how her new movie was a huge hit and that she had decided to break up with her long time boyfriend, a famous actor to go to the Selection. I mostly ignored her though, deciding to spend my time enjoying the view outside the window.
When we arrived at the Palace grounds, we got out of the car to join the rest of the girls. We listened intently as Patrica Clementines, the head instructor inform us of today's schedule which consisted of firstly getting our makeover, then most of the day to settle in and a tour was available if we needed. And of course at the end of the day dinner.
