Our whole family sat in our living room, mom and dad in the love seat, Shalom, Elec, and Lena on the couch while I was on the floor reading a book. Suddenly ten national anthem started to blurt out of the TV, Lena forced me to close my book causing me to roll my eyes.
After King Maxon updated us on unimportant things, Gravil Fadaye took the podium and cleared his throat, sending a smile to the camera, "As you all know, I am not as young as I used to be." He started in a light and joking tone. "So I have decided to retire after our Prince Ahren's Selection, with my apprentice taking over." The crowd along with probably everyone else in Illea, including us gasped. Gravil was retiring? That was a shock, I really couldn't imagine anyone else taking his place. It would be weird to not see Gravil whenever we watched Illea Capital Report.
"Now, now, I can understand why everyone is devastated by this news, but without further ado, I present the Selected!" We ceased laughing immediately, listening intently. Well...to be honest I couldn't care less.
" Alice Wintergreen of Carolina, 3." A picture of a pretty girl with light brown hair and hazel eyes appeared. The next few I stopped listening too. That is until I heared a shriek of excitement fill the room, I turned around to the TV, thinking I would see Lena's face on the screen. But no. It was me. In the picture I was mid-laugh, my nose slightly scrunched up and my eyes sparkling as I stared at something pass the camera.
I couldn't freaking believe it. I started to get up, hoping to escape the madness that was now Lena twirling around screaming about how she was so happy for me and that I would be a great Princess. As if... I scoffed internally, but before I could take a step up the stairs, every phone in the house began ringing, and I could see officials swarming out door, knocking for us to let them in. I groaned loudly, I guess I'll have to finish my book later...
