Chapter 2

My phone pings a few hours later.

Steffy: We just landed. A little turbulence, but not too bad of a flight. Headed to the hotel now. I will call you later. Kisses to you and the kids.

Me: Glad you made it okay, and finally texted me. I was getting worried. I was getting ready to send a search party after you. Have fun, and will talk to you later, xxo.

I put my phone down, slightly depressed that she's only been gone a few hours and that I still had days before I could see her again.

"Come on guys, if you want to FaceTime Mommy, you have to stop dilly dallying and get your pajamas on," I lightly scold as I usher them into their rooms.

"Kelly, pick out your pajamas and start getting dressed, I'll be in there to check on you once I get Cooper situated."

"But Daddy," she whines.

"Kelly," I sternly warn, raising my eyebrows to her. "Please just do as I told you to do. Remember what Mommy asked you to do? Be Daddy's helper. Being a helper also means listening to me."

"Ugh, fine," she relents and stomps towards the direction of her room.

I shake my head at her attitude and smile. I can't wait to see what she's like when she's older and her and Steffy's personalities clash. I know that there will be some interesting battles that will brew. She is Steffy's daughter through and through, but she is way too young for this attitude.

Me: Are you ready to FaceTime the kids? They have been talking about it since dinner. We can't disappoint them.

Steffy: Ready to go, I miss them like crazy and can't wait to talk to them.

Me: What?!!!?? You only miss them? (wink face)

Steffy: Okay, maybe I miss you just a little bit too. (heart)

Me: Probably not as much as I miss you. What's the countdown at now? 80-something hours until I can have you back in my arms again?

Steffy: You are terrible, and hopeless. LOL.

Me: But you love me anyway

Steffy: That I do, forever. (kiss face)

Liam: Ditto, Baby. Call us when you are ready.

A few minutes later the iPad rings.

"Hi Mommy," I smile as I situate the iPad in front of both Kelly and Cooper.

"Hi guys. How are you? How was your day? Did you have a fun day with Daddy? I miss you guys."

"Daddy gave us ice cream for dinner," Kelly says, smiling at Steffy.

"Just throw me right under the bus, Kelly," I say shaking my head. "I thought you were on my side."

"No, I'm on Mommy's side."

"You know she's kidding right?" I plead, hoping she believes me.

"Mmmm, I don't know, I know how much of a pushover you can be when it comes to things like that. Those kids easily have you wrapped around your finger."
