ELLA
Mom is coming back soon, Kurt was driving us over to Dev's place do get the replica of our destroyed vase.
He drove recklessly, as always, into Dev's driveway.
This site isn't on the map. So its only for kids who fuck things up way too badly.
I helped Kurt with his money problem last night. One fifty bucks for an ugly vase was ridiculous, but we did it for Mom.
We climbed out of the car and walked towards the door, Kurt pushed it open and entered the house.
This place was located far beyond the city streets and lacking in civilization.
"Dev?" Kurt called across the hallway.
The wallpaper was chipping off, the curtains were torn, the tables had strange carvings on them, there was even a large dent on the wooden floor of the living room that I had no intentions in finding out how it appeared there.
"Over here!" He answered in his scratchy voice.
We walked down the hall, avoiding the brutal watchdog sleeping on our way, following the sound of his voice.
We entered the kitchen, which Dev transformed into his work area. The tiled walls were stained and aging, the floors had massive cracks everywhere.
Dev sat on a table, goggles on, as he zapped on the motherboard of a computer with one of his advanced tools.
"Kurt!" He exclaimed, standing up and wiping his greasy hands with a hand towel before shaking my brother's hand.
"Dev, good to see ya!" Kurt grinned.
"What beings you here this time?" Dev asked, pulling up his safety goggles and folding his muscular arms over his chest.
Tattoos splattered across his body, piercings everywhere, his voice sometimes thundered when he was mad but if he was calm it was just hoarse and scratchy.
Dev was the to go guy for drugs, fake IDs, drinks and even porcelain vases that you break at wild parties.
He could repair anything you throw at him, whether its a fucked up computer or even a broken heart.
The funny part was that... we met him through our mom.
Kurt sucked in a sharp breath, "We need another vase."
"Damn," Dev chuckled, "another?"
"Yeah... last party kind of got out of hand." Kurt scratched the back of his neck.
Dev laughed and peaked over Kurt's shoulder, "Hello, Ella." He grinned.
"Hey, Dev." I greeted nonchalantly and took a step further into the room, the kitchen's foul stench finally watering my eyes like it always does.
"I see you got a new tattoo." I nodded towards his arm, I was just trying to make a conversation. I didn't actually care.
He flexed his left arm, revealing a bird that was on fire.
"Cool, huh?" He complimented it himself.
"Wicked." Kurt agreed.
"It reminds me of my mom." He chuckled, "she used to look so sweet and elegant but was a raging, fiery bitch when she wanted to be."
-
"Careful!" Kurt exclaimed when I threw the vase up in midair and caught it.
"Relax dude, I got it." I assured him, opening the front door to our house and carelessly slamming the new vase onto its new place next to the front door.
