I stared at her as she crossed her arms over her chest. "You're being difficult." I huffed. She harrumphed and flicked her fringe from her bright eyes. I stared at her before cracking my knuckles in irritation.
"You said you loved me, Touka. Did you mean it? Was it a spur of the moment confession?"
"Why do you care?!" She screamed, finally speaking. I winced at her shrill tone. "Since when did you even fancy me, letalone love me?! It doesn't matter if I love you; you'll never feel the same way. You don't care about anyone but yourself." She huffed, and then she whipped around on her heels. She took off quickly, giving me time to remember she was a speed-type ghoul. I cocked my head at the empty doorway.
It hadn't even occured to me to go after her. I stared at the doorway until the next morning came around. I was angry at her. Why did I have to go after her whenever she threw a hissy fit?
That was not fair. Yes, I'm aware that I sound like a two year old. But it's not. She can't stomp and scream and expect me to race after her when she storms off. She crossed a line. Everything that I had done... I had done for those working here at Anteiku.
I had done it for my friends. My new family. For her. She was being stupidly unreasonable - why should I pay the price for that? If she could behave like a two year old, so could I.
"Kaneki!" I heard a gasping breath. I focused back on the doorway. "T-Touka... you were... supposed to watch... her..." She panted. Hinami. I let my head loll as I cocked it even further.
"Come again?" I raised my eyebrows.
"Touka... nearly... died..." She hissed as she panted. I felt my jaw slacken. "She's... okay now..."
"How?" I asked. I felt relieved that she was okay. Was I really supposed to watch her? Touka would kill whoever said that she needed to be taken care of. Hinami never gave me an answer.
I scratched the back of my head as I trotted out to the room that seemed the most like a lounge room but was basically a staff resting area. I gulped as I saw Touka's blood stained shirt. Someone was standing at the door as Touka showered. I dashed inside, sliding the bathroom door shut as I went in.
"Kaneki?" She curled her head around the shower curtains. "What are you doing in here?" She asked softly.
"I'm here to help you." I smiled. She frowned.
"I never asked for your help." She huffed as she returned to her shower.
"Get over it." I said, crossing my legs as I sat down on the floor. "You don't need to ask for my help. I know when you need it." I smiled, even though she couldn't see it. "You just need to learn to accept it."
"I don't want to be completely dependent on you."
"Isn't that what couples are for? You know? Boyfriend can lean on girlfriend. Girlfriend can lean on boyfriend."
"Is that what we are?"
"Well," I took a deep breath as she cocked her head out from the shower. "I love you, Touka." I smiled at her. The words seemed to tumble out of my mouth. She grinned, returning to her shower once more. Her small giggles turned manic.
"I love you, too." She sighed as her shadow danced behind the curtains. "Took you long enough to say it." She sniggered as she flicked the shower off. "Cover your eyes." She said childishly. I did as I was told, but of course... I had to peek.
I let my fingers slide apart, the gap between them was painfully obvious. Touka had the best body I had seen. She was incredibly hot. I just wanted to get up and touch her... to suck on her sweet spot and hear her moans. I wanted to feel the mixture of her warm body with the heat of the shower. She began to turn to me as she covered herself with her towel. I quickly closed the gap between my fingers and cleared my throat. "You done yet?" I asked.
I was a good actor, if I do say so myself.
"Uh... yes." She said proudly as I uncovered my eyes. She slid out of the bathroom and dashed towards her room. I heard her lock sliding shut soundly as she giggled. "Not until I'm dressed! You pervert!" She snickered as she shuffled through some drawers. I stared at the door until she opened it. I grinned at her pyjamas.
"Don't judge."
"But you have ghouls on your pyjamas." I chuckled.
"They were specially made!" She said, slapping my chest softly as she collapsed onto her bed. I heard her sigh as I sat next to her. "You're not getting into my bed until you've showered."
"I have showered." I lied. Well, it wasn't really a lie. I have showered today. Just not in the last few hours. I was moping. I had an excuse.
"You probably hate me for running out on you like that, huh?" She asked, chuckling humorlessly.
"Yeah, a little. I hate you even more for getting yourself all worn out like that."
"I got stabbed." She laughed.
"What?" I was burning now. "Doves?" I cocked my head.
"Yeah." She answered dismissively. "Don't worry about them. They're dead now." She said softly as she sighed. I took a deep breath as I blinked at her.
"You sure? I could do a sweep now to make sure everyone will be..." She gripped my collar and tugged me down towards her. Our lips clashed together, and our teeth clinked softly as she pulled me impossibly close. I felt her tongue dashing across my lips, and I fought it off with my own. She blew air into my mouth as she pulled away, and I made a noise. She laughed, her beautiful laughter ringing out.
She had been laughing a lot, recently.
"You..." She laughed, pointing one of her fingers at me. I took it between my teeth, and she squealed. I released her finger, licking the small indents that I made. I chuckled as she leant into my shoulder. I sucked on my bottom lip before I kissed her head. "You need to worry more about yourself and less about me." She sighed.
"You're the one who said I only care about myself." I pointed out. She tched before she sent me a look. "Again." She said, her eyes pleading with me.
"What do you want?"
"Another kiss." Her eyes widened.
"Okay..." I leant in towards her once more, taking her bottom lip between my two and sucking softly. She moved her hands into my hair, a small pant escaping her lips as she moved her legs around my waist. I pulled her onto my lap as I crossed my legs. I let my hands rest on her waist, and she pulled away once more; breaking the kiss far too quickly.
"Can you hear that?" She asked as she clamped a hand over my mouth. I raised my eyebrows as she tugged a fistful of my hair. The sensation was kind of nice, actually.
"Touka..." I whispered as she shook her head.
"Shh... he's talking." She whispered, her eyes concentrated on the corner.
"Who?"
"Him." She answered vaguely.
"What's he saying?"
"He's telling me about Anteiku and... oh.." She cocked her head. "He's gone." She pouted.
"What did he looked like?"
"Well... he looked like you. But the old you."
"The old me?" I shifted the both of us around so I could lie down on the pillows. She reclined on my chest, sighing contentedly as she blinked slowly.
"Yeah. That's what it looked like anyway. Plus, he had your eyepatch." She said, tracing the area around my right eye. The area where I usually had my eyepatch.
"The mask or the white bandage?" I cocked my head as her fingers began to dance around my eyes.
"Oh..." She sighed. "He said not to talk about him anymore." She said.
Touka was very... creepy.
