Love Is Not A Choice Yet a Possibility

Chapter 27: Night Falls

We all look over the edge and watch the ember head towards the water when suddenly, a tentacle comes out of the water and grabs it. We all stare in shock as Uma cackles evilly and comes to the top of the water. "Drop something?" The ember is seen in one of her tentacles. Mal screams. "It can't get wet. Give it back before it goes out." Uma laughs. Harry and Gil stare in shock at Uma. "Uma?" They question. "That's my name." I roll my eyes at her. Uma smirks before sinking back under. "No." Suddenly, a tower of water is forming and rises up before exploding. We all covered our eyes before looking over the bridge once again to see where she went. "Hi, boys." We hear behind us. We quickly turn to see Uma standing on the bridge behind us, holding the ember. Gil and Harry head towards her. "Welcome back." "Uma, you swam off and forgot all about us." Mal speaks up. "Ya. Planning her revenge no doubt." Uma scoffs. "It's not all about you, Mal." Mal raises an eyebrow at her, not believing her. Uma steps forward. "I was looking for a hole in the barrier to let everybody out." Uma turns towards Gil and Harry. "And, you know what I found, boys? It's way better out there than we thought. There's this thing that looks like a furry rock called a coconut. And fish so big you could dance on their backs. And they've been keeping it all for themselves."

Mal becomes done with Uma's games. "Whatever. Uma, I need that to break a spell." Carlos looks towards Uma. "Cast by Audrey, Sleeping Beauty's daughter." Uma looks up at this. "Mm. So, the good guy is the bad guy?" She chuckles. "Well, I might not give it back. Let's see what happens." Mal starts to become impatient. "Uma, it's not the time for games! People's lives are in danger!" She walks towards the edge. "Guarantee me that every single villain kid who wants to, can get off the Isle." "I can't do that." "Can't do that?" Uma mutters. She holds the ember over the edge. "Well, how about now?" I step forward. "Uma, I can. I'm gonna be Queen. Please. We need this ember and while you've been gone, we've restarted the program that can help us. Ben and I are hoping this can lead to the destruction of the barrier altogether. So, you have a deal." The other four look at me in shock, but I could care less. We need this ember. Uma fakes dropping it and Evie yells, "Uma!"  She laughs. "Her word is good." Evie tries to persuade. Uma looks at me. "I know it is." Uma walks forward. "But I don't trust Mal, so I'll still keep this, for the time being." She puts the ember in her jacket. "Because you can't do this on your own. This is a job for pirates." Mal looks angry, but I know we need their help.

Jay seems to agree as he walks up to Mal. "We can always go back to hating each other when this is over." "Fine." Mal mutters. Jay looks towards Gil and Harry. "Where are our bikes?" "Oh, yeah. We crashed them." Harry laughs and imitates how they fell off a cliff and exploded. I look towards him angrily. I growled. "That was a gift from Ben." The two boys look somewhat apologetic and shrink under my gaze. Evie tries to break the tension. "Here's a thought. We could try to be friends. Put our history behind us and celebrate our differences." Both groups, beside me, as I agree, look at her like she's crazy. "Ya?" Evie takes out a small bag. "Who wants gum?" Uma rolls her eyes. "Let's go." "No?" "Ah..." Mal stops them. "No. I'm in charge." I scoff. "Ya, not happening. As I am friendly with both sides, I'm in charge. So, let's all just get back to Auradon and figure out our next step." Everyone nodded and started to walk across the bridge. I passed Evie as she was putting a piece of gum in her mouth. I took one from her. "Thanks."
