"Elizabeth smith"
With this both, Thomson and Brady turned silent ; both in their own deep thought.

" what do you think about this Brady ?"

" sir I think something needs to be fixed here."

"Yes , that is what I think too Brady. Now let us continue rubbing. "

"She appreciated every moment because she knew she might never be able to experience it again. Well , interesting much" Thomson said and started rubbing his hands. " 5 June 1891 - 10 September 1924 . She died at the age of thirty four. Well, quite early. But whoever she was she must have been very important to James that is why no one is allowed in this part of the area. And the epitaph is also quite interesting. Now bring the mirror Brady " Thomson ordered.

He took the mirror and set it straight so that it could reflect the grave properly . Old graves are often read by the help of a mirror which reflects the light over the writing and makes words clearer.

" oh my god . Can you see that Brady ? There is something written beneath her date. Most probably it should tell us who she was and how was she related to the Whittaker's. Bring the bulb. "

He brought a 75 watt black light bulb . On casting its light on old gravestones ; the writings miraculously appear. They casted its light on the grave .

"In loving memory
Elizabeth smith
5 June 1891 - 10 September 1924
She appreciated every moment
Because
She knew she might never be able to experience it. "

And then beneath the words there was a weird circular sign with an eagle and a rat on it. The eagle was trying to fly but the rat was clinging it by his paws.

"She was a good daughter , a loving sister and a faithful wife. She loved her family more than herself. She fed the beggars and gave them shelter, she helped them who needed aid , she distributed medicines during epidemics. She helped everyone who asked for it. She died a noble death. "

"Sir I think we should ask James about this. "

"No , don't tell him about it. I think she was a very kind hearted lady and possessed a noble and a warm heart. But why did she die ? Brady , find out more about that sign. Draw it and send this to Vance also and tell him to look for this sign. Meanwhile act as if you do not know anything about this grave and not a word out. Okay? "

"Yes sir. I guess I should call Jake and we should start surveying the inner mansion ?"
"No , I think I am done with this place for today. Let us take our leave and head back to the town ."

" Okay sir "

"This case is making me go crazy. First the picture, then the dog , then the man , and then these medical stores and now , this grave. I should definitely retire after this case after all I am ageing now. " Thomson muttered under his breath.

"So Brady where does this John Smith lives? "

"344- Merlin's road sir ."

"That is where the poor people live right ?" Thomson scrunched his eyebrows.

"Yes sir. I never said that John was rich . Sir he used to be a very hard working man once but then situations change. The townsfolk never told me what exactly happened. They would turn away and give me the cold shoulder. "

"Then I think it is time to grease someone's shoulder now . Do you know someone from here who would do anything for us?"

"Yes sir. I have one person in mind who is quite suitable for it. He used to be my very close friend and we graduated together. Now , he runs this business of finding information about other people."

"Okay then , we will meet him after meeting John."

"Yes sir and we have to move left from here."

They both walked quietly in the dirty bustling streets of Whittburn town, both deep in their own thought . After ten minutes of walking they finally reached a small compact house and the voice of children wailing inside could be heard even till two houses. It surprised Thomson as to how could people live in such a small place , but beside the house was a small garden which was very well maintained , which was quite an irony as compared to the adjacent places. The garden looked out of place. It was as if to find gold in the garbage.

Smith's house was written on a nameplate outside the house which had rusted with time and now was dusty and red.

"We are here sir. "

"Yes I see. " Thomson nodded his head in acceptance."let us go inside."
With this they rung the old fashioned bell and a lady in her mid thirties opened the door. She had blonde hair and was quite a beauty to look at. No one could imagine such a beauty to live in a dirty place like this. She had a small baby placed on her waist who was wailing badly and demanding her attention ;which she was trying to ignore.
"Alden Patrica I suppose Madame ?" Thomson said and held out his hand which the lady shaked .

"This is my assistant Brady Collins and I am Thomson Black . Is Mr. John at home ? We have some grave matters to discuss with him urgently" Thomson replied courteously.
"No I am sorry , he is currently not in his right state of mind to talk. I would suggest you to come and meet him later."

"Is he at home right now Madame?"

"Yes he is ."

"So , I am sorry but you have to lead us inside and we have to meet him RIGHT NOW." Thomson roared and focused on the last two words.

"Okay sir . " she shuddered by the sudden change of tone and ushered them inside.
