Chapter 11

The fact that Alice had been missing turned a lot of tables. Police had been constantly on guard in the Whittaker town and people would murmur while passing through the mansion. No one dared to go inside and talk to them. But the trade through the town was one of the key things that was not affected by the 'kidnapping'.

Trade was still the same. Shipping lines were always open despite the fact that the major percentage of shipping companies was owned by the Whittakers. Now the cargos loaded were checked twice and thrice just to confirm the parcels.

The days had been gloomy and cheerless. A melancholy tune was in the air around the mansion. Even the servants missed the joyful comments of their small master , her cheerful laugh and her beautiful eyes that danced with excitement and liveliness. They all wished and prayed for her return and that noon maybe they were answered.

Vance came when the sun was at its highest point and all people were sweating in the sticky foul weather. Cesia guided him inside and announced his presence. All the family members were requested to meet in the hall in five minutes.

Including James , Peter , Adam , Lucy , Ellie , Danne , Zach and Thomas ; Taylor and Marie Mcgay were also present. They had not left their daughters side since the disheartening incident providing her support and hope whenever she would feel off , after all she was Alice's mother . Edward had still not returned but was constantly calling to know about the progress which was like finding salt in the dish. Next to impossible. Whittburn was not such a big town but it was connected to all the big towns and was a major hub for traders. It even had all the shipping lines. So trading was very convenient there. Daily transactions from the town had made it one of the fastest growing trade city in the whole country. So, everyday a lot of ships and carriages were loaded and unloaded in the city. Finding a blue blood in such a chaos would have been a very difficult job. The sudden appearance of Vance seemed a blessing in disguise.

"Mr. Vance it is so nice to meet you. This is my family . " James said while sitting down on the sofa. "Please have a seat. "

With this all the people took their respective seats and sat down to listen to Vance .

"Uhhh.. Sir I am so sorry for my sudden appearance but ....Uhhh I need you to .... Uhh tell you about ..." Vance faltered in his speech. " uhh I don't know how to break this news to you , but you all being Alice's family ... I have to tell you everything."
"So as you all know about last nights activities and the work we policemen did , right ? "

"Yes Vance we all know about your bravery and last night added to the list. Now please don't move in spirals . Come straight to the point !" James intervened.

Vance started scratching his head. "Okay . So... We found a body in the brook which is ruined and unidentifiable. She matches the exact description of Alice so , I need one of you to come to the police head quarters and take a look at the body. " as Vance finished his sentence Lucy bursted out into huge sobs. Every person in the room was trying to maintain their composure which was really hard to do. No one expected such a blow. Their dear Alice was dead? Even the thought made goosebumps appear on their skin. The carefree girl was no more ? This could not be possible or was it really true? The unidentified girl was really Alice?

No one was there to console anyone. Even James being the eldest in the family was trying his best not to shed tears and provide solace in such a difficult time. Jake took the children inside the library who were quite oblivious to the situation. He lied to all the questions put forward by Thomas and Zach. How could he tell the children that their sister was no more ? And moreover she was murdered ! They were just young merry children who were so heart broken by their sister's disappearance that they refused to play without her and were determined that soon she would come back laughing and play with them.

Zach had not painted since Alice was kidnapped and Thomas had not shown his mischievous heart warming smile. He would always be sulking . 

Meanwhile, James announced that he would be going to retrieve Alice's body and also ordered Peter to inform Thomson about the turn of events. He told Adam to accompany him while Ellie and Marie supported Lucy . Taylor also volunteered to go which was accepted delightfully. No body expected such a turn of events that day.

I KNOW THIS CHAPTER IS ALSO QUITE SHORT BUT YEAH YOU ALL HAVE TO BE PATIENT TO KNOW THE STORY THAT LIES AHEAD. 

I WOULD EDIT A LOT AFTER I COMPLETE THIS. THIS IS JUST A ROUGH DRAFT .
