In contrast to the previous night, the cloudless morning seemed calm and serene.

The duo entered the huge metallic gates that guarded the mansion. With lush green gardens surrounding them, and the woods rising in a distance, the mansion was a breathtaking sight to behold. It seemed surreal. The magnitude of enormity spell bounded Brady, but Thomson just shrugged it off. He was used to the vanity of these blue blooded people , their shrewdness and their craftiness and that is why he was so repelled by the idea of presenting himself immediately when called.

With great pride in their step, confidence oozing out of their stance, they announced their arrival into a room full of hustle bustle, inspectors and a black vestment clad person whose presence irritated Thomson gravely though he tried to ignore him as much as possible. And at that moment, the room felt colder than it was. The somberness filling aura made Thomson grin. It meant something interesting. He felt the familiar rush of thrill.

All the family members and inspectors were seated in the great hall including Taylor and Marie Darby, Lucy's parents. The children , Zach and Thomas were under strict supervision of Cesia and Danne, their elder brother. It seemed that they were protected in Zach's room, so, some of Thomas's toys were shifted there including some of Danne's office work.

Zach's room had a majestic balcony with the glamorous view of tamed gardens directly in front. The dense woods could also be noticed on the extreme left and right. His balcony had different kind of flowers blooming all round the year. So, his room seemed as a perfectly fair cage.

They had no idea of the trials happening downstairs.

Thomson gave James a clipping nod as a curtsy and proceeded to sit on one of the ivory gold sofas while Brady followed him, admiring every detail with cautious eyes. He looked like a squirrel caught under the headlights.

"So," Thomson said while rubbing his hands. " I do not believe in ghosts or dark magic , but the presence of father here says a lot. I do not believe in god Mr. Whittaker and I proudly announce that I am an atheist, a disbeliever. I believe in only one thing , and that is work. So now do you need me or the holy father to help you out? " , he asked while pausing. Seeing the grim face of James , Thomson continued.

"I think that the father would do you more good than an atheist like me . So, father, you can help them here , my presence is no longer required. " And with this he started getting up to move out when James suddenly stopped him.

"Stop Mr. Thomson , please stop. We did not mean to offend you by his holy's presence here but we go to church every Sunday, we believe in him. We are in a really bad position right now and we thought that he could help us. His presence is comforting for all the family members and it kind of lifts up, boosts our mood. I am so sorry sir but we really require your help. Please take a seat." James said while rushing to stop the short tempered detective. Not so fast. You are not going anywhere detective. Little did he know that this case was going to change his whole life and his perspective, a new concept for hope would take birth.

"So , care to enlighten me inspector ?" Thomson said while Brady occupied the seat next to him and grabbed a glass of water.

"Alice has disappeared," inspector Roderick said bluntly " and we have no clue or any lead as to who did it."

"Well, that's what I am here for buddy," Thomson grumbled while grabbing the papers from Martin's hands. "Now let us check it out."
