"PLEASE, FIX HIM! We have to fix him! Please... I'm begging you..."
;;;:::---(((THREE DAYS EARLIER)))---:::;;;;
"When you're normal again, what's the first thing you're going to do?" Sam inquires, "well I said I'd fix your brother, so that. But after that, go back in time and ask Tolkien why the Hell he killed of Thorin, Fili and Kili." Gabriel answers, he rolls on his back and Sam rubs his belly (it's like they've made a secret deal that when the corgi's belly is up, then Sam has to pet it. True, it would be weird if it was two normal guys, but Gabriel is a dog, so the normal rules don't apply.)
"Why do I always find you giving belly rubs to the Trickster?"
Sam turns and looks at Dean, "because you have a habit of walking in at wrong times," Sam turns back to the corgi and gives a slight flick of his hair. But Sam stops the belly rubbing and sighs, "any news on Balthazar?" He quizzes, "not that we've found," Dean replies. "When he flew out of that building, it's like he flew out of this country," he adds.
Gabriel gets up and jumps from the table to the chair then down to the floor and waddles away, leaving the Winchester's to have a "BM" scene, sort of.
"Sammy, what's got you so worked up about finding Balthazar again? We still have time to change Gabriel back, and I've got this whole mark thing under control. We probably don't need to change him back-"
"No, Dean. We're changing him back and that's that. Not to mention that he has been proper corgi-ing for hours lately, not just minutes or doggie needs. But full hours, Dean," Sam snaps.
"Whoa, okay then, we'll fix him. But what has got you so worked up about it?"
"He's my friend, I care about him, just like you care about Cas..."
"No, I think you care in a different way than I care about Cas-"
"Really Dean? Just yell 'no homo' and kiss him for God's sake! You OBVIOUSLY LOVE each other!"
"First of all, I will not do that. Second of all, when you said that you cared about Gabriel the way I care about Cas - which is wrong by the way, but you seem convinced - so...? What you're saying is..?"
"Yeah, I think I just might... Maybe, I don't know. He's done wrong by us so many times, but he was trying to help. And seeing him like this and getting to know him, well... Maybe," Sam finishes with a huge sigh. "I don't know," he adds.
"Sammy, you're acting like a teenage girl, but hey, what are big brothers for?" Dean lightly punches Sam's shoulder, "if you ever say that I gave you advice on feelings, I will hurt you so badly that not even an Archangel could heal you, but. But you just need to try, and if it feels right, go for it."
"You should practise what you preach," Sam smiles weakly.
"Bitch."
"Jerk."
Dean stands up and walks away, more than likely to find Castiel.
Sam avoids Gabriel and Dean for the rest of the day, burying his feelings and face in piles and piles of research.
-----
"Woof," Gabriel says, Sam looks down to the corgi. "Hi."
"So, what's up?"
"Just researching."
"Seriously, that's all you've got? How about you tell me why you've been avoiding me since you and Dean-o's talk yesterday, and most of today?"
"Because..."
"Because?"
"I just wanted some time alone, that's all. We have been spending a lot of time in each other's company."
