Rays of sunlight shone through the sheets of small tent radiating heat and brightness that caused a frown on half asleep Sakura. She groaned and stirred a bit, even with her eyes closed, she could tell it was already sunny outside and the noise of birds chirping and animals squeaking made it hard to continue sleeping. She had used up quite a lot of chakra yesterday and it tired her out a great deal. However, a good sleep had recharged it to the fullest. It was weird she was feeling warm and comfortable on the uneven ground in the middle of the woods. She released a content sigh making a satisfied sound and stirred a bit more as if she were in her own bed between velvety sheets. Suddenly, her eyes jolted open with a little shiver as she realized the warmth she's been feeling wasn't only from the sun. A muscular arm was hugging her tightly from the back and on her head, playing with her hair was a steady breath. She blushed, swallowing uneasily and tried to ignore her ramming heart. She told herself Kakashi must've moved in his sleep and ended up being so close to her. That's it. It was an accident!
Accidents don't happen accidentally, a voice in her head said.
She shut the voice down, shooing away all the undignified thoughts and stayed still, not wanting to wake up Kakashi. Despite their position was too intimate and even inappropriate for friends, let alone teacher and student, she couldn't deny how good it feels to be in his strong arms, to fall asleep and wake up with his warmth engulfing all over her body. Their legs were intertwining and if she silenced her thoughts for a second, she could feel his heart beating in a regular rhythm on her back. They were, in fact, in spooning position! That realization brought stronger heat to her cheeks and she suddenly got excited all over. Her breaths became faster, her toes curled and heat coiled in her belly. She was just trying to figure out what's wrong with her body when another unexpected compelling feeling appeared out of nowhere. It was absolutely unpleasant and unwelcome, especially in the situation she was in right now. She tried to control herself, however bodies are not something one can conquer.
She sneezed loudly.Kakashi flinched behind her and with a long sigh, his arm was lifted off her waist. He rolled to the side and stretched his limbs lazily before relaxing back. Sakura didn't dare breathe and remained still, not even moving an inch, curiously wondering if Kakashi was awake or not. She debated whether to keep pretending asleep or get up and act like nothing happened. Behind her, she heard Kakashi sat up and she closed her eyes immediately, playing asleep.
His hand shook her shoulders lightly, "Are you awake Sakura? Get up. We must leave before noon."
She turned to look at him with half-lidded eyes and faked a yawn though there was none of sleepiness left in her. Kakashi withdrew his hand and left the tent first, followed by a bit confused Sakura. She couldn't understand why Kakashi was acting so calm as if nothing happened after waking up the morning cuddling her in a way that only romantic lovers would do. Surely he would've noticed it, wouldn't he? It could even be all night, rather than just a period in the morning. Just an assumption, but she secretly wished it's true. Then again, what's she expecting from him? An apology? Not really. This is Kakashi, the invincible cold-hearted man. If he was embarrassed of something, he wouldn't show it. She rolled her eyes to herself mentally and prepared for their journey ahead. Still miles away to go!
Two days later, at pleasant sunset, Sakura could already see the gate of Konoha standing graciously under the bathing orange light. The earth country is wonderful, lovely, full of amazement. Yet, there is no place like home. Konoha is where her heart lives. The one place she would always come back to . There's nothing she wouldn't do to maintain peace here.
The two guys at the gate greeted them with smiley faces, trying to look discreet in presence of Kakashi. He nodded at them and Sakura waved back before heading to familiar streets of Konoha. They walked together until Sakura had to part as the location of her apartment was on a different way to the Hokage Tower. She waved him goodbye and turned her heels toward home. A warm bath and a good rest of night is the most needed thing right now.
