What is this feeling?

“Good morning,” Lily came into my room. She had a smile plastered across her. I placed my phone beside me and lifted myself up with a lot difficulty. My elbows were strong enough to hold me up and I smiled at her lightly.

“Good morning, Lil,” I said and sat up against the headrest.

She pulled away the drapes and the mild morning sunshine hit my skin leaving it warm and fresh.

I love sunshine. It always made me feel so warm and positive to get out of bed. My only motivation for every morning. Always made me feel….beautiful.

I blushed a little because of the sun kiss and the anticipation of what is to come tonight. This was my first date after a while. And I couldn’t, under any circumstances, stay calm.

Not even in another reality.

I cleared my throat and looked at Lily who was tidying up the room a little- just picking up some little pieces of paper from the ground. A strand of hair fell across her face, freeing itself from her messy bun. Her face looked extra pretty decorated by the morning sunshine.

I always admired her beauty- she was beautiful in, like, a subtle way. She didn’t need any make up. Her skin was golden and clear, her hair was dirty blonde and her light brown eyes enhanced her features blissfully. I was more “nod-along” kind of beautiful.

Like, if someone says I’m pretty, I nod along. I don’t confirm nor deny.

“Lily…uhh…the guy asked me out again…” I spoke up hesitantly.

“Oh my god, hon. Did you faint again?” she stood up straight and widened her eyes.

I giggled, “no! I didn’t.”

“Well….what did you say?” she inched closer to the bed and threw herself across it and placed her head on my lap.

“I said yes,” I shrugged.

I know I was the one who asked him out the second time but she doesn’t need to know that.

“Skye,” she said and sat up. She slowly pulled her legs to her chest and stood up on the bed. “OH MY GOD!!!!”

“Ugh…I knew I would regret it,” I whispered to myself.

“DON’T YOU HAVE TO SHOP?!” she screamed.

“No, Lil,” I smiled. Recalling his exact words.

Wear your favourite dress, love.

“Why?! Are you gonna wear a rag or something , hon! You. Can. Simply. Not!” she dramatically gestured as she bounced on the bed.

“Lil, calm down!” I chuckled at her playfulness and pulled her next to me by her hand. “He..um…” I couldn’t but blush, “he asked me to wear my favourite dress.

“Wow,” her hand found its way to her chest and she pouted dramatically.

“Guys like this still exist, huh?”

“Guys like wha….?”

“Guys with the potential to give you butterflies,” she sighed dreamily.

“Okay! Now, we need to plan out everything properly. First, makeover!”

“What…I don’t need a make ov-“ I stopped coz I realized it was too late for me to say anything coz she was already rushing out of the room.

“I’m getting us reservations. Get off the bed, lazy!  You’re going on a date!”

I smiled, ear-to-ear. After a real long time.
