"Yes. A couple more turns." He says and I can tell how uncomfortable he is. We drive into the parking lot of a big building with lots of windows. He opens his door and speaks: "I will be right back." As he closes the door I put on my headphones and listen to music while reading my book.
A couple minutes pass and I finish my chapter before looking out the window searching for him. I spot him through the glass doors talking to a front desk lady who looked about 30 or older. I couldn't make out what they were saying but I minded my business and went back to listening to my music and reading. _________________________________________ My phone buzzes and I answer the call to hear my mother sobbing on the phone hysterically, scrambling her words. "Mom calm down, what happened?" I ask with concern. "Y-your father got into an accident and-" she begins to speak again when I hang up on her, crying into my hands.
A couple minutes pass and I wipe my tears before getting out of the car and walking into the building.
