Juliet's POV

I gave a half-smile at Kaia who was looking back at me in disbelief. I mean time travel? No way. Right? But it does make sense if it was October 2014. I shouldn't even be born yet!

"How does that explain how we don't remember anything from the past?" I asked.

Dr. Banner began to answer. "We haven't quite sorted that out yet but the best explanation so far is that you didn't just travel back in your timeline you sort of..."

"Shifted into our timeline. Where you didn't exist and it was before you'd be born so you sort of broke the rules." Tony finished.

"I guess losing your memory was the consequence," Steve added. So we may never remember how we grew up. That's a tough pill to swallow. Kaia looked like she was deep in thought. I bet she was trying to make sense of the logistics, she seemed the logical type. Pepper then came back in and offered to show us around the tower before dinner time. I silently agreed although I wasn't very hungry. Apparently finding out that you traveled back in time will sometimes make you lose your appetite.

There were more tests that apparently they wanted to run with us but it's been a long day so thankfully that's an activity left for tomorrow. We left the lab, took a left, and walked across a metal walkway where Pepper first showed us a door into an open room missing two walls with a long table in the middle. There were a bunch of chairs around the table and a large flatscreen on the opposite wall.

"This is the conference room," Tony began. "This is where important meetings and all that stuff is held."

"When you actually bother to attend them." Pepper quietly muttered under her breath but loud enough for me to hear. I exhaled a chuckle and smiled but stopped immediately when I saw Tony give her an offended look.

"I go to plenty of meetings" Tony had an accusatory tone as if this was an outlandish statement.
"Really. What meetings?" Pepper challenged.

"You know the important ones." He used his hand for effect as if he were thinking of particular meetings. He then clapped his hands and began to walk out the door. "Anyways, let's go see the workout room."

And so we saw the workout room (which explains why everyone here seems so fit) which was very uniform and modern; it feels like that's a common theme throughout the building. We also saw the living room, datacrux, kitchen, and even vehicle hangar. I noticed every ounce of technology was up to date and was ridiculously intuitive. Not to mention this guy liked to put flatscreens everywhere. I eventually lost track of the number of rooms we were shown.

Finally, we looped back to the dining room where boxes of steaming takeout were ready for us. Eagerly we sat down and began to pass around the boxes. There was so much food they must have ordered three of everything, but then again guys like Steve look like they would eat quite a bit.

"Can I have the veggies?"

"Pass the rice, Bruce."

"Nat, did you say you wanted orange or sweet and spicy chicken?"

There was a lot going on but it felt like such a natural environment. This will just take some adjusting. Within minutes there was conversation just about anything from airplane engines to whether hot dogs or hamburgers could keep you sustained longer on a desert island. I wasn't participating much, I was still exhausted. Though it was amusing to watch. Soon the food had mostly disappeared and we were rationing what was left.

"Juliet do you want some orange chicken? There's just a little left and I noticed you didn't get any." Pepper extended the box towards me.

"Oh yeah and sorry I was kind of hogging the teriyaki," Steve said while looking into the almost empty box.
