Hello there! Best to start the song in the middle. Also, added a song to the previous one:)

Jade folded the napkin into a square and used it as a coaster for her iced coffee. It was a specially warm day and being near the windows, even in the back of the bookshop, was proving to be a bit of an inconvenience. She prefers it like this though, sunny and bright.

She dabbed her fingers on the corner of her improvised coaster and turned the page of the heavy book propped on her lap. She wasn't too keen on finishing this, she'd rather finish the other book about mermaids but this was purely for research. The mermaid book was back on the shelf in front of her to reduce temptation without reaching for it and she couldn't help but give it a longing look.

The bell rings indicating that a customer came in but she didn't give it a bother, Hozier would probably be at the front.

She flipped her book and looked up when she heard shuffling in front of her in time to see Perrie pulling out the book that's been running on her mind.

"Hey, I'm reading that!" She screamed, making Perrie jump. The book slid back to its place as if hiding from the confrontation.

"I'm pretty sure that's a different book on your lap." Perrie scoffed and tried to pull out the book again, hugging it to her chest.

She walked by two days ago to look for this specific book ready to offer money for it even if it's one of the 'for rent' books. But to her dismay, Hozier said Jade had taken the book home for the day.

"But I was reading it." Jade argued with finality, her teeth gritted. The blonde shook her head,

the goddess and her temper

They stared each other down, until Jade sighed
"Can I at least finish the last few chapters?"

Perrie narrowed her eyes at her lack of resistance, "Only if you let me read that book"

Jade rolled her eyes and dropped the book on the chair next to her. She reached out her arm for the one Perrie is holding, which the blonde gladly handed before making her way beside the goddess.

"Never easy with you I swear" Jade muttered, shaking her head. She looked over as Perrie smirked while getting situated on the seat.

Neither of them really talked to each other, but every now and then Jade would glance at Perrie. She was curious if the blonde really understood the topics in the book she was reading as it was a magic book delivered to Hozier. She never really knew the extent of Perrie's knowledge when it came to these things, just that she had magic like her but not like hers.

Minutes passed by and Jade was finally on the last chapter. She looked over at Perrie and saw her trying to subtly block out the sun rays hitting her eyes.

Jade could pull down the blinds, but she had her baseball cap next to her anyway so she lifted that up and fitted it over Perrie's head.

"Thanks" she muttered, the small gesture catching her off guard. The goddess hummed in reply and went on to finish the book.

-

Perrie heard a thump and saw Jade place the book down the table and pick up the iced coffee.
She thought Jade would hound her to finish the magic book but to her surprise the brunette leaned back on her chair and started to watch people outside.

In the quiet came through a low voice. Perrie was too distracted to keep reading. It was familiar she thought as her ears perked up.

Babe, there's something tragic about you
Something so magic about you
Don't you agree?

She continued to listen, Jade now noticing her change of posture.

"What is it?"

Perrie shook her head, still entrapped by the singing. "That's Hozier isn't it?"

"Yeah, sometimes he sings. Why?" Jade nodded, nonchalant but curious.

"When you asked me to think of my happy place when we did the spell, I saw a sunny meadow but also I kept hearing someone's voice singing from afar. The voice sounds like Hozier's" she explained, baffled herself. The voice has always been unknown and it was unique, but what's stranger is that when she heard the lyrics it's like she's known them all her life.

Honey you're familiar like my mirror years ago
Idealism sits prison, chivalry fell on it's sword
Innocence died screaming, honey ask me I should know
I slithered here from Eden just to sit outside your door

Then the voice died down and they heard the stock room door open and a shuffle of footsteps.

Jade cleared her throat and lifted the book slowly from Perrie's lap, making the blonde snap out of her shock. She had no explanation to offer Perrie, she was confused herself.

She stood up and slowly got her things together, giving the blonde the opportunity to follow her to the front of the shop.

The bookshop keeper was found tending to the plant Perrie gave. He turned and smiled at them,

"Hey Amelia, Hey Perrie" he gestured to the plant as if to show how good it's doing. Perrie's heart warmed despite the earlier confusion that her gift is thriving. She smiled in response. She figured she would question him another time, maybe when Jade isn't around.

"Hey Hoz, I'll take this home tonight. Cool?"
Jade asked, gesturing to her backpack where the magic book laid.

"Sure, take all the time you need"

They both bid their goodbyes and started walking in different directions. As much as they see eachother, they're still not friendly.

Jade dropped her things and keys on the coffee table and walked towards the fireplace where a picture-like paper glowed. She turned it over and took in the sunny meadow in the picture. The picture showcased the movement of the leaves, grass, and waterfalls. Hozier was there standing tall, her sitting and smiling and a pair of bright blue eyes stood out among the rest.

"Where did you come from, Perrie?"
