Part Six

Bucky had dragged Sam to his apartment under the guise of "having lunch." This was extremely unusual for him. Bucky never asked Sam to come over...and normally he just invited himself.

This made Sam immediately notice something was up. Bucky was even prepared with food when Sam got there. After brief socializing, though, Bucky was the one that broached the subject. "Did you ask Y/n out?" Bucky was clearly tense and this almost made Sam laugh.

Was the metal man actually admitting that he had feelings?

That was definitely different and new!

Sam could definitely use this to his advantage!

Cheekily, Sam leaned back in his chair. "What happened to 'I'm not interested?'"

Bucky glared. "I'm not!" He was so offended by this, Sam knew there was something up.

Sam did laugh this time. "You're a terrible liar, Buck!" He crossed his arms across his chest. "Why don't you tell me what's going on?"

Bucky sighed, "I'm terrible at this whole 'dating' thing...and she's not interested, anyway," he quickly added the last part, as if he were trying to speak it into reality.

Sam raised an eyebrow. "So, you talked to her?"

"Yep," was all Bucky said.

Sam laughed, again, "Well, aren't you the kind of sharing?" He immediately went to grab a piece of sushi with his chopsticks. "Did she actually reject you?"

Bucky was quiet for a moment...and, then he said, quickly, "No."

The look on Sam's face was completely floored. What? He hadn't even asked the girl out, hadn't even done the legwork, and assumed...

"What?" Bucky asked, genuinely confused.

Sam blinked, several times. "How do you know if you didn't even try?" Sam shook his head. "No...that's...that's not how it works!"

"There's a dance to these things!" Bucky was, once more, offended and defensive.

Sam leaned forward, putting the sushi in his mouth. He was quiet for a long moment before he looked back up. "Wow...you are an idiot."

Bucky laughed. "That was hurtful."

Sam immediately got up from his chair. "Watch and learn, Buck." Immediately, Sam started walking toward Bucky's door. Bucky got up quickly and started after him.

"And, she's just magically going to say 'yes' to you?" Bucky had half of a mind to pick Sam up by the throat and throw him through his wall into his neighbor's apartment.

But, not Y/n's apartment. Definitely not hers. That would be too awkward to explain.

Sam laughed. "I'm Captain America. Of course she's going to say 'yes'."

And, just like that, Sam Wilson strolled out Bucky Barnes' door, and there was nothing that he could do to stop it.
