Today is the day of the Blakely Children's shelter Christmas party. We were glad that several children and they were teenagers who got adopted. It's usually the babies and toddlers that get adopted.
At the mall they had one tree filled with age and gender and wish for specific items. Some children just wanted clothes . Two days before the cut off date several names were still on the tree. My aunts Joey and Izzy took these names and went shopping. Jenna and Avery made sure with the staff that each child had gifts. The ones that were still not there, Jenna and I got their list. I pushed Jenna in a wheelchair and we shopped for these items. My family and friends came over to my aunts home helping wrapping the gifts and labeling them real well so the tags wouldn't come off. Scotch tape became our best friend.
We were at the shelter unloading all the gifts. We made sure the children who still believed in Santa were in another area of the shelter. My aunt made the special desserts again with some of the youth.
The tables were numbers or some of them were. The kids had a talent show.
And one of the male volunteers dressed in the Santa suit. We tried our best to make this special for each one. Some kids were still sad but still participated in the event.
Santa started passing their gifts. We eventually had to have everyone sit down to make it easier. We had extra presents as back ups just in case something broke or was ripped.
We all headed back my aunts home and handed out our one gift we had purchased as a gift the person's name we chose. With the exception of the girlfriend's and spouses everyone just received one gift.
Olivia and I took my truck to drop our girlfriends off since they lived in the same neighborhood. We returned home. Several of us were going fishing while the others were going to the gun range. My parents informed me that my gun is to stay locked up in their bedroom safe and would be available for me to use at the range.
We all went to bed.
