Chapter Nine

Ell's POV

Why the fetching heck does having hospital work have to cost so dang much?

I shift on the couch, trying to get the lump to flatten down, "Niall..." I call out, feeling completely, one hundred percent horrible that I keep bugging him.

"Coming beautiful." He says, walking from our- MY bedroom to the living room, Alex asleep in his arms.

I melt. I mean it, I melt at the sight of him holding Alex and how she loves him so much.

"What wrong?" He asks, laying her in her small play pen to sleep.

"Huh, what?" I ask, looking at him, forgetting what the problem was in the first place.

"You called me in here, I'm assuming you need something." He says, sitting at the end of the couch, tickling my toes that stick out from my case.

"Niall James Horan, I am about to use some very bad language if you don't stop." I say, grabbing one of the dozen of pillows in the living room and throwing it at him.

"Okay! Okay! I'm stopping. And I'm almost done packing so that we can head to Simon's house." He says, putting the pillow back on the stack.

"I told you I'm not going. First off, he doesn't know me and he's not going to let a complete stranger into his house. Second, this is supposed to be your relaxing and vacation time. I'm not going to let you take care of me when you are supposed to be relaxing. Third, I have no intention of going anywhere looking like this. Like seriously, the couch and I are really, really good friends now, and finally, don't make me stand up." I say, making a sad, pouty face.

"And I'm not leaving you here alone to take care of our daughter." He says, standing up and moving over to me, sitting on the coffee table and kissing my forehead softly.

We did a paternity test and are waiting for the results, but Niall says that he already knows that she is his and doesn't need the test. I told him that I wanted it to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. Then laughed and said that I should be a judge and he didn't get it and it was a little bit awkward.

"Has the mail come yet?" I ask, knowing I am never, ever going to be able to win an argument against him.

"I'll go check." He says, helping me sit up and putting another pillow behind my back, grabbing Alex, the apartment key and walking out the door.

I shift again, hitting the stupid bump in the couch, "That's why I needed Niall!"

Liam's POV

I hold Avery's hand, walking around New York with her, sipping my smoothie. Looking at her, wondering if she knows how much I have fallen for her in the past two weeks.

"Oh! Let's go into this bookstore up here! It sells the most amazing and interesting books!" She says, picking up her pace and walking quickly, nearly dragging me into the bookstore.

We walk in, books stacked on shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, ladders all around the store to get to the books on the very top.

"I told you!" She says, letting go of my hand and running to the fiction section, looking around.

I walk around slowly, just looking at all the books.

"Can I help you sir?" An elderly lady asks me, sitting and sorting books.

"Oh, no. Thank you, I just can't believe all the books." I say, sitting and helping her sort them.

"How do you know Avery?" She asks, smiling as we sort them.
