Chapter Five
Avery's POV
I help Ell carry the last of the dishes back into the house, placing them in the sink.
"I'm going to go change Alex and put her to bed, then come back and do the dishes. You can go turn on a movie or something." She says, carrying a sleepy eyed Alex. Her head laying on her moms shoulder, having trouble keeping her eyes open.
"It's okay, I can start them so they're as many." I say, plugging the sink and turning on the water and adding dish soap.
"You are seriously awesome." Ell says, coming over and giving me a small hug.
"Anything for you... Well, almost anything." I say, beginning to scrub the dishes.
"Darn, so you won't pay my rent next month?" Ell asks, walking out of the kitchen.
"Only of you'll pay mine!" I yell, laughing at her.
Liam walks in carrying the last of the dishes, placing them in the sink along with the others, "Here, let me help you." He says, beginning to wash them with me.
"Thanks, but you don't have to do that. Do sit and relax with the others, Ell will be back and is going to help me with them." I say, rinsing the plates and setting them on a towel on the counter to dry.
"It's fine; Ell did all the cooking so I can help with the washing." He says, washing out some cups.
"So, tell me Avery, what is New York like." Liam asks, washing a few knifes.
"It's really not that bad once you get used to it. Although I think the biggest thing would be the air pollution and the noise from all the cars, but it's honestly a great place to love... I mean live. A great place to live." I say, a blush coming over my cheeks as I lower my head, content on scrubbing the spatula in my hands even though it's already cleaned.
Liam laughs, "It is a great place to love." He says, rinsing out the muffin tin, "Avery, would you go on a date with me tomorrow?" He asks, turning and looking at me.
I bring my head up, my hair draping my face, "A date?" I ask, swill owing hard.
Liam moves the hair out of my face, tucking it behind my ear, "Yes, I date. If you don't have plans." He says, looking at me.
"Well... Ummm, you see. The things is..." I say, trying to explain.
Liam's face falls, "You have a boyfriend, of course. You're too nice and pretty not too. Sorry, forget I ever asked." He says, finishing the last of the dishes, drying off his hands.
"No, it's not that. Yes, I do- I did have a boyfriend, we broke up yesterday." I say, telling him.
"It's okay, I don't want you to do something that would make you feel awkward or uncomfortable. Just forget I asked." He says, giving me a sweet smile then walking out into the living room.
"Liam, I would love to go on a date with you." I tell him before he leaves the kitchen.
"You... You would?" He says, turning around, a smile on his face.
"Yes, I would." I say, smiling back.
He smiles, melting my heart. The crinkles by his eyes showing, "Okay, I'll pick you up around 7. Wear something casual." He says, the smile still on his face as he walks out.
"Why's he smiling like an idiot?" Ell asks, walking back in the kitchen, Alex sleeping on her shoulder.
"No reason." I say, beginning to dry the dishes.
