Illusions that come to those who can't attain a sense of wholeness.
They shift into reality, twisting into something one could've never expected. Just like the thing that we call life.
A walk in the park for some.
A drive through hell for others.
Uramichi still couldn't figure out which his life was.
It's not pointless, but hardly fulfilling. He exists on in the same manner as everyone else, on a day-to-day basis.
Without routine, life gets dysfunctional and the minuscule events of the day become tedious. Anxiety falls upon you, and don't expect depression to be lagging behind.
That's why it's best to put effort into life. Even if he does hate it at times. This is the life he's been dealt. What more is there to do but accept.
Uramichi sauntered about with a cigarette hanging from his mouth and his hands in his pockets. He was heading to work right now.
He's not feeling it today, but calling off doesn't help pay bills. In fact, it's been almost five years since he called off for anything.
He wasn't very close with his father or sister. They barely had a relationship except calling to say happy birthday or happy holidays. They can't do that without complaining that he never comes around.
He's not the type to spend money on fruitless things, frolicking about as a child with interests in only new, shiny toys. Nor is he one to go on trips and adventures.
Ordinary is fine.
It's the way he likes it.
There's no one to expect anything from him. So his day are allowed to be plain and fleeting.
These days though, certain remarks get under his skin. Then the cheerful facade he's obligated to wear becomes grim and transparent.
Thank the heavens he works with pure children, that sometimes hurt him, but they don't know any better. That doesn't make it any less painful.
Entering the building, he greets the employees along the way to his dressing room. He could see Iketeru and Utano in the hall talking to one another.
"Good morning." He says as he comes upon them.
"Good morning Uramichi. Lovely day, huh?" Iketeru's sparkling smile flashes in his eyes.
"Sure."
"Morning. Did you have a good walk here?" Utano asks hands clasped together.
"Same as usual. You two are awfully chatty. What's the script looking like today?"
"Don't know. We were just talking about going for drinks later. I can't wait." Utano says.
"Isn't it a bit early to be thinking of that? I'm not against going but the day has barely begun." Uramichi remarks shuffling around in his pockets. "Let me guess. Your boyfriend did something?"
"Nope. He's on a three-day trip to see his mother. She's a bit sick."
"Shouldn't you go as a supportive role?" Iketeru raises his brows.
"He's an adult. He can handle his own family. Besides, the hag doesn't really like me." Utano sighs.
"That's a bit cold," Uramichi mutters with the cigarette halfway pursed between his lips, "Could be the reason she doesn't like you."
