Draco was the first to wake up on Monday. He woke up from a nightmare. Thankfully though it wasn't too early in the morning. It was only 7, so he decided to do some reading. He knew Harry would be up soon to shower and get the rest of the boys up. Draco was never sure why Harry got up so early, but he was a morning person. Draco sat there and read silently for about 30 minutes before he heard Harry start to get up. He put his book down and looked over at his brother.
"Morning." Draco said quietly to his brother.
Harry jumped slightly, not expecting his brother to be awake. "Morning Draco. You're up early. Everything okay?" he asked, concerned.
"Yeah, I just had a bad dream. I've only been awake for like 30 minutes maybe. I'm alright though. I promise." Draco wanted to reassure Harry that he was fine. It had been a silly nightmare anyway.
Harry nodded, deciding he would go along with what Draco said. Even though Draco was the older brother, Harry sometimes took the protective older brother role if Draco was sick, injured, or upset.
"Okay, well I'm going to go get in the shower, if you wanna wake the other boys." Harry wanted to make sure that everybody was up in time to eat breakfast.
Draco chuckled a bit and nodded. "Yes mom." He teased Harry, but he knew his brother meant well. Sure, he was very much a mother hen, but all their friends made it to class and meals on time, so Draco couldn't complain.
Harry rolled his eyes at Draco and walked into the showers. He took his shower while Draco got the other boys to wake up and head to the showers if they wanted. By the time Harry was finished most everyone but Theo and Blaise were ready. The two were almost ready, Blaise just needing to find his tie, and Theo needed to put his shirt on. Everyone was waiting in the common room for the two boys. Once they came down their group headed off to The Great Hall to eat some breakfast.
Harry smiled and sat in his usual spot next to Draco as he got himself some oatmeal and pumpkin juice. He happily started to eat once he made sure Draco had gotten himself some breakfast. They ate their breakfast mostly in silence. In the mornings no one really talked much, especially at the beginning of the year. There were no exams or anything to worry about. Soon, Severus came around with the schedules, saying good morning to both of his boys before going on.
Theo looked at his schedule then groaned "Ugh, Charms first? We had Charms first last year."
Harry shrugged. "It could be worse Theo. We could've had flying first thing in the morning. I mean I know second years don't take flying, but I don't think I would want to be on a broom this early in the morning."
Draco nodded. "Or we could have History of Magic first thing. That would be truly dreadful. I would definitely fall asleep hearing Binns drone on and on this early in the morning."
Pansy and Blaise both nodded in agreement to what Draco had said. Breakfast was over soon and everyone was off to classes. Thankfully, nothing eventful happened in the first three classes of the day. Harry thought Charms had gone by pretty fast and so had Herbology. Potions was alright for the Slytherins. None of the Gryffindors, aka just Ron seemed to try and sabotage anything.
Lunch went by way too fast for Harry and Draco's liking, but double DADA wasn't too bad. Harry thought Remus was a really good and nice teacher. He felt comfortable in the man's classroom. Study hall went by fast as well, everyone getting a good chunk of the homework done and soon it was dinner time.
Harry and Draco both ate their fill at dinner. Harry had decided that he would go and see his mom after dinner, wanting to let him know that Draco had a nightmare. He knew it was probably nothing, but Harry wanted to watch out for his brother.
"Hey, I'll meet you back at the common room later, I'm gonna go see mom." Harry said as they were all walking back down to the dungeons.
Draco frowned a bit. "You aren't gonna tell mom about my nightmare are you? It was really nothing Harry, I promise. It was stupid. Just about crashing my broom is all."
Harry nodded. "I won't tell Dray. I just wanted to go see mom."
Draco nodded and they parted ways, Harry making his way to his mom's quarters. He knocked on the door, and smiled when Severus opened up.
"Harry? Is everything alright?" Severus asked. Anytime one of his boys showed up at the door, he always felt like it would be because something bad had happened.
Harry smiled a bit and nodded. "Yeah, I just wanted to come see you. Is it alright if I come inside?"
Severus nodded. "Of course Harry! You really don't have to ask. You are my son after all." He said with a small chuckle, and stepped out of the way to let the boy inside.
Harry walked in and took a seat on the leather couch. It was his favorite spot to sit. He sighed happily and got settled, looking up at Severus with a small smile.
"Okay, I promise everything is alright, but I did want to talk about something."
"Of course Harry. I'm all ears." Severus said, taking a seat in one of the leather chairs.
"Don't tell Draco I told you, but he had a nightmare last night. He had only been awake for 30 minutes by the time I got up. He said it wasn't bad, just about him crashing his broom or something, but...is it bad that I don't believe him." Harry said and shifted nervously
"Harry, it is perfectly normal to be worried about your brother. I know you two care about each other. As much as I hate to say it, you two are probably just a bit traumatized because of the last school year. You shouldn't be, and your papa and father are working on changing that. Thank you for letting me know. Draco doesn't make a habit of lying, so I'm sure it was okay, but you are very much within your rights to be worried and maybe not believe Draco," Severus said gently. He got up and went over to the couch, hugging Harry close.
Harry hugged back and sighed softly "that was all really. I just wanted you to know." He pulled away from the hug
Severus nodded and let go of Harry. "So how was your first day? Were your classes okay? I mean I know my class went smoothly for once, but what about your other classes?"
"They went really well. Remus is a really really good teacher. I feel safe in his class. Lockharts class was a bit different, but Remus does a really good job."
"I'll let him know you think so highly of him." He teased gently and smiled. Harry and Draco both loved Sirius and Remus. The two were good with both boys.
Harry giggled a bit. "He probably already knows that." He said softly and slid off of the couch. "I think I'm gonna get back to the common room. I need to rematch Theo in a game of exploding snap.
Severus chuckled a bit and nodded. "Good luck with that Harry. And remember, you can talk to me, your father or papa if you or Draco need anything. You can even go to Remus or Sirius if you feel like you can't talk to us." He said gently and walked Harry to the door.
"I know mom, you tell us that all the time."
"Well, there is nothing wrong with me just reminding you." Severus opened the door for Harry.
Harry waved goodbye and got back to the common room. He and Theo got their rematch in, but Harry just couldn't get the upper hand. Theo won that match, but Draco played Theo afterwards and beat him. Soon the boys got changed and settled for bed. It was going to be a very eventful year.
