Tears blurred your vision as you stared up at the stranger. "I-is it r-really y-you?" The words kept getting caught between your small gasps of air. Trying to stay calm in this situation was not an easy one. The blonde in front of you stared back in confusion at your crying form. "I'm sorry sir, I'm not sure who you are. I just happened to over hear you talking about my little brother." His words had you scrambling from your knees and tackling him to the ground. You ripped your hat off, allowing your (h/c) locks to billow around your shoulders. "Sabo!!! It really is you!!!" You cried as you squeezed the ever living daylights from him.

"(Y/N), I c-can't b-breathe!" He gasped as he struggled against your grip. "Oops sorry." You chuckled finally releasing him. "What are you doing here?" You both asked at the same time. "Jinx." You managed to say before your surprisingly very alive brother. The last time you had seen him was when you were 10.

       ~~~~~~~~Flash Back~~~~~~~~~~
"Attention ASL(Inital) pirates! Our mission today is to find supplies to fix damages caused by the storm!" You stood in front of your 3 brothers with a look of complete seriousness on your face. "I want a telescope!" Luffy cried, earning him an eye roll from you. "Luffy!! We have to get supplies or the hide out is going to FALL APART! You can get a telescope some other time." Your response had Ace laughing. It always made your heart feel warm when the freckled boy let his happier emotions show. He was usually entirely too serious.
"I'll keep an eye out for one Luffy. Promise." Sabo smiled down at the youngest of you. "You're always spoiling him Sabo. It why he doesn't listen!" You teased the blonde, ruffling his and Luffy's hair. You knew the statement was only half true. Luffy had been a stubborn hard head that didn't listen to anyone since the day Shanks introduced you to him. "Let's go you guys! If we take too long we're gonna end up dealing with Bluejam's crew." You all followed Ace out of the treehouse and into the scrap heap known as Gray Terminal.
The morning had been filled with laughter and good finds. Your bag was over-flowing with goodies to build various weapons and traps with. Ace and Luffy had run back and forth a few times carrying scrap back to the hideout. "Would you look at that?! Hey (y/n) look what I found!" Sabo called out to you as he waved a broken spy glass in the air. "Luffys gonna love it! Way to go Sabo!!" You ran up and squeezed the blonde before pecking his cheek. In the distance you heard Ace and Luffy on their way back to your group.
Unfortunately the day turned dark as Bluejam and his crew surround you and your brothers. Inductively the boys stepped in front of you, protecting you from the pirates. It wouldn't have been the first time the pirates had tried to kidnap you. But your face fell when you realized they weren't there for you, but for Sabo. His father walked up behind the pirates and started speaking to the boy. He threatened to have you all killed before Sabo's eyes if he didn't return home. You knew how much being in that stupid noble's house hurt the blonde. They didn't care about him, just what status he could bring them in the future.
"Don't worry about us! Just run Sabo!! Be free!!" You screamed as tears poured down your face. The pirates had captured you and the two ravens, waiting for the order to strike. "Yeah we can take these guys. Just get out of here. You don't have to go back!" Ace joined in on your attempts to get the blonde to escape. You weren't as confident about a win as Ace was, but you'd rather die than let the blonde return to that hell. But it seemed like he felt similar, he'd rather return to that hell than let his siblings die for him.
Your heart ached and that night you couldn't find it in you to sleep. You snuck out onto the roof, not wanting to wake the other two who were sound asleep. Tears spilled down your face as you let music escape your lips in an attempt to soothe your soul.
Shadows settle on the place that you left
Our minds are troubled by the emptiness
Destroy the middle, it's a waste of time
From the perfect start to the finish line
