Why?: Luffy x Reader

Chapter 1: Introduction

It feels great to hear the sound of the crew over the slapping sound of the waves. We were only separated for two years but it felt like we were separated for fifty.

The past two years I felt so much guilt. I couldn't
be there for Luffy after he lost Ace. My captain, my Boyfriend. I wasn't there for him like I should have been. But I am here now and i'm stronger. I will protect him.

When everyone got separated because of Kuma back at Saobody I got sent flying to a random island in the New World. After me being alone there for about 2 1/2 weeks trying to get off and constantly failing, Red Haired Shanks and his crew docked there.

I begged shanks to train me and he agreed pretty quickly, because of my connection to Luffy. I am a two style swordsman, with one sword on each side of me. I promised I would use them to protect Luffy and the rest of our friends. All I want in life is for them to be safe and happy.

The island wasn't very big, and there was no civilization except for me and the Red Haired Pirates. My training consisted of hunting for food, fighting the Red Haired Crew mates, and even getting lessons on how to think quickly and basic medical knowledge.

I met Luffy 2 years ago, at the same time he met Zoro. I am from the island were Zoro was being held and was going to be executed. We had an instant connection. Not like the friendship kind. I fell in love with him instantly, and he told me he felt the same, and we quickly started dating.

Right now we are on our way to Dressrosa to destroy the Smile factory. Everyone is in the kitchen talking in small groups, still catching up from the 2 years we were apart, and Luffy is talking to Law about the plan for Dressrosa, even though we all know he won't follow it.

"Law, there is no point in telling Luffy a plan. He won't follow it" I say trying to give him a warning. He just shrugged. He doesn't believe me. Well, he will soon find out the truth.

I turn to walk out of the kitchen when I hear a chair scraping against the floor.

"(y/n), Can I talk to you alone" Luffy said with a big grin. I return the grin and nod.

Luffy jumps and lands on me like a child. That's one of my favorite things about him, I love it. I take Luffy and walk out of the kitchen, towards the lookout room.

When we get up to the lookout room Luffy jumps off of me onto the bench that wraps around the room.

"Come sit with me" He said patting his lap.

"What's up captain?" I asked as I walk over and sit on his lap facing him. Luffy frowned and tilted his head to the side. He looks kinda confused.

"What's wrong Luffy?"

"Did you forget, (y/n)?"

"Forget what?"

"You're my girlfriend."

"How could I forget, Luffy?" I ask with a big smile.

"Well you called me captain, so I thought you forgot."

"Trust me Luffy I could never forget that i'm your girlfriend." He smiles and leans his head into mine and kisses me. I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him back. After a while I break the kiss.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you Luffy. You are always there for your crew members, but when you needed us, we weren't there for you. I especially should have been there. I'm so sorry." Tears started to fall down my face. "I was sent to a random island by Kuma, where I met Shanks and his crew and he agreed to train me, so that I could protect you, like I couldn't 2 years ago." By now I was full on bawling.
