Nico's POV
I thought this was going to be easy.
I was sorta right.
I trusted my sword at Celene's shoulder. Not a fatal hit, but one that would be a winning blow. I saw the look of fear on her face as she jumped out of the way, but she quickly regained her posture.
"It won't be that easy. I'm much stronger now."
"Yes Celene, I'm aware. You've said twenty times already." I snapped.
"Well it's true!"
"We'll see about that." I said as I went in for another strike.
And another.
And another.
I must say, for Celene not having a weapon on her, she was doing okay. My new strategy was to tire her out until she made a mistake.
On one particular strike, the tip of her blade drug across her face, creating a little gash. Celene laughed.
Where I expected red blood to come seeping out, I found golden ichor.
"What the-?"
Celene wiped the blood off her face and smirked.
"See? I'm a god."
I rolled my eyes. Even if she was, I knew Celene couldn't fight. She can barely pick up a sword. I decided on a new plan.
Will would hate me for it, but I'm a little too busy saving the world.
"You might be a god, but can you do this?" I asked as I gathered my strength. I willed a small army of skeletons to rise up ready to fight.
"That's too easy." She said, Skeletons slowly started to rise up behind her. I saw Celene go a bit paler.
I smirked. I willed my army forward and they ran towards Celene. She did the same, straining herself.
So I was right. Celene hasn't learned to harness the Underworld powers.
Not that I mind, it would be okay if she melted into a puddle of darkness.
I let my army fight hers, giving up control. I've learned to be able to not have all my willpower focused on when I raise the dead. Celene on the other hand, did not.
She was already sweaty and looked like she was going to pass out.
"Getting tired?!" I yelled.
Soon enough all of Celene's skeletons leaked back into the ground. She collapsed.
I walked over to her, my sword at the ready. I had to steady myself since I already felt the effects of my Underworld powers.
I looked over Celene. "A god, you say?"
She looked at me with disgust.
"You didn't even try." She said.
"Didn't have to. I've been doing this longer than you, Giovanni."
"But I can control it, I swear!" She said hysterically. She seemed to be talking to herself, or even, something inside of her.
Celene was hunched over on all fours, and she seemed to be fighting her own battle.
I almost felt bad.
Key word almost.
She was still an evil, spoiled brat who thought she deserved everything.
