Will's POV

Dammit.

I looked behind me, and both Zoe and I were surrounded by a ghost-like creature. They looked like soldiers, but they were made of dark grey smoke that swirled around them. They had beady red eyes full of malice and hate.

"And before you try anything stupid and heroic. They can't be killed. Courtesy of Tartarus of course." Silas informed.

"Will." Zoe whimpered, frightened

"It'll be fine." I whispered to her.

I kept my cool. I wasn't go to freak out and show Silas that he controlled me.

"Look. I don't want trouble with you Silas. We have enough of that at camp. All I'm asking is for Nico back. Please."

Silas smirked. "Give me one good reason I should do that, Solace."

"Well for starters, he's my boyfriend-"

"That, my dear Will, is where you are wrong. He's not your boyfriend anymore. He's mine. So sorry, you can't have him, but you do get to be killed in front of him, so that's something." He said it so nonchalantly that I doubted this kid had morals.

"What do you mean, he's your boyfriend? Nico would never." Zoe said, sounding much more confident than she was.

"You see Zoe, I love Nico. And when I love something, I take it. And don't blame me, you see, Nico came here on his own accord. He was so heartbroken after you yelled at him, and I'm just helping him." He teased.

I sighed. I TECHNICALLY didn't yell at Nico because I was angry, it was because of Celene. It still hurt though, if I could have controlled it, Nico and I would be fighting side by side right now, not in the danger of knock off Jack Fost. (Yes, that is his nickname now. And yes, I will continue to use it.)

"Fine. You wanna kill us, go ahead Bates, do it. But I will spend the rest of my life if necessary to get Nico back. That's something I can promise."

Silas crossed his arms proudly. "Okay Mr. Persistent." He motioned to the Tartarus monsters. "Take them away."

The smoke soldiers advanced towards us. We both brought out our weapons. I managed to shoot an arrow at one of them, but it whizzed through his torso and landed somewhere in the trees.

"Like I said Will, you can't beat me."

"We'll see about that." I mumbled. The soldiers grabbed us with a firm grip. Zoe and I both started squirming to get out, but no luck.

They walked us, or should I say drifted us, (saying they were literally smoke), for a long while. The sun almost completely risen, leaving a bright light for us to follow. I could tell we were heading East, saying we were walking towards the direction of the big ball of light.

I thought of a plan. I didn't know Silas' fatal flaw, but saying he was a child of Athena, I had an idea.

"So Silas." I said, attempting to make conversation. "Tell me about this whole Tartarus ordeal. What exactly are you gaining with this?"

Silas looked offended that I even spoke to him, but he replied, "You can be a god. You get power, much more power than being a Half-Blood would even give you."

"Okay okay. But how do you know Tartarus isn't just using you? Like you never know."

"Because!" He snapped. "Tartarus is not like the others. He's so powerful, he can give that power away and still be able to take over the world. He's already given me so much. I am much too smart to be a pawn is someone's game."

Zoe snorted trying to conceal her laugh. Silas stormed over to her. "Oh you think that's funny? Wait till I slit your throat, we'll see who's laughing then." He took out a knife threateningly. "Don't think I'll hesitate to lodge this knife into your heart."

I squirmed with anger. "Don't you fucking touch her Silas or I swear to gods-"

"What? What do you swear? That you're gonna torture me until I die? You don't have the balls, I can tell." He seethed.

"Just wait and see." I said. "You'll regret messing with me."

He held his hands up in fake fright. "Oh no, I'm so scared. A doctor with no actual degree or training is threatening me? What on Earth are you gonna do? Throw a scalpel at me?" He teased.

I rolled my eyes. I looked forward, and saw Westover Hall in the distance.

"That's where you're keeping him. Isn't it? Somewhere in there?"

Silas laughed. "Yeah, it was too easy. He told me everything. Every ounce of trauma he's every experienced. So I thought, 'he started his demigod journey here, so why not end it here'. It's poetic, don't you think?"

"You're a monster! How could you do that to someone you say you love!?" Zoe yelled.

"Oh no no no. You've misunderstood. I'm not going to kill Nico. Just ruin him to the point of no return."

"You know I actually think that's worse.".

"Call it what you want sweetheart."

By this time we were on the Campus of Westover Hall. He led us in the main door and down a long passage of hallways. Many flights of stairs later, we reached a heavy metal door with a big chain lock.

Silas pulled out a key and unlocked the door. He pushed it open revealing a large room made of concrete. The soldiers pushed us in.

"Will." Said an aspirated voice.

I looked over and beamed. "Nico!"
