┊chapter one

my eyes opened slowly as the sun shined at my walls. I see eden at the other side of the room still sleeping wrapped around her favorite blanket. I started rubbing my eyes gently and felt lightheaded as I woke up. "A new day huh" I mumbled quietly as I walked to the bathroom. I filled a cup of water and gargled it, spit it out and brushed my teeth. I dried my face and took the ripped the blanket off of Eden.  I yelled "GOOD MORNING!" She groaned in frustration "it's 6 in the morning jace what the hell" she said in a raspy voice "well it's a school day, if you want I'll prepare your outfit!" I seemed so joyful but was I annoying her that much? I thought.  I tried not to think much of it and decided to put change into my uniform. I slipped my shoes and headed for the door. I knew edens favorite breakfast and was hoping they had it.

"Good morning young lady and what are you in for today? Let me guess almond croissants?" the man chuckled and asked
"You know the usual!" I laughed awkwardly.
I walked out with the breakfast with a warm smile on my face Excited to give her the breakfast.
I walked upstairs and saw Eden putting on her sweater
"I got this for you since I know you love croissants!" I said in a nervously shy voice
"Oh thanks I love croissants!" Eden said with a smile. I felt bad but decided to walk to class with eden.
badger and ren were waiting at the auditorium since that's where we always meet.
Badger waved at us excitedly "good morning, did you sleep well?"
I laughed and responded "I sure did! Not so sure about her though" as I elbowed eden playfully
"I'm glad you two are getting along even though it's a new start for us all" ren said. I smiled and walked with ren, badger and Eden to class.

While sitting in class It was pouring outside and the clouds seemed dark.
ren seemed more quiet than usual. I felt like he was hiding something so during class I observed his actions but he mostly had his head down and staring at his work while writing, yeah it's not much but it seemed a tiny bit suspicious to me. I had this gut feeling yet it felt wrong because he was my best friend.

After an hour the period class was over and I headed to the cafe. I wasn't that hungry so I just bought a cookie. As I was about to sit down I saw Eden in the corner of my eye and decided to greet her and and offer her sit with me and badger. Ren was still acting sketchy And said he would be in the bathroom. I saw Eden seemed a bit gloomy.
"Hey do you want half of my cookie?" I ripped my cookie in half and signaled her to take it
"You're so nice, thank you so much" she said . Badger was on his phone messaging his boyfriend and mostly scrolling through social media
"Are you messaging your boyfriend again?" I teasingly asked while mocking badger
"Will you please shut up for once" badger giggled and hid his phone.

ren pov:
Honestly I was really pissed I had a shitty and dusty locker.
I reached into my pocket and walked to the cafe.
Staring at the menu and they had my favorite sandwich, god finally at least one thing goes my way here. I bought the sandwich and saw badger, Eden and Jace sitting at the table and sat next to badger
"Hey guys, you won't believe how shitty my locker is-" as I started ranting to them about my shitty day. Luckily jace was nice enough to comfort me about it and said we can trade lockers
