┊chapter five

Once we got to the bridge near the ocean we started panting out of exhaustion and rage.
Eden was confused and scared. The zombies were spreading all over town. Soon it'll take over the state. Then, we're done.  we left once the crowd of zombies broke the glass door. 7 of them came running at us. I gasped and grabbed Eden's hand. Out of fear I ran off with her leaving the other two behind. She started panicking "WHAT THE HELL, WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER TWO?" She yelled at me. "Stay calm, I know Ren and Badger took the other route." I tried my best to reassure her though she knows more than me. And I know one of them would get hurt. As we waited in the corner i broke the silence, "it's horrifying how quickly they can run huh?" She scoffed in response as she threw her head back down waiting for Ren And badger. I heard footsteps and panting in the alley. "There you are" Badger sighed in relief, and Ren Patted him on the back and reminded me to not do that again. I nodded and apologized to all of them.

We walked to a near store and as expected it was empty. We elected to take some food, snacks and small medical stuff from the store. I grabbed a bag and took some stuff I desired like sweets "just a reminder we're taking USEFUL things, not things you could've bought days ago." Eden looked at me crossing her arms. "Yeah yeah I get it" I replied putting the sweets back and handing her the bag.

we left the store and I told them we should find a place to stay in.
"Listen I know this is a change but we need to find weapons and a place to stay at.
We were taught how to use BB guns when we were younger so we can teach ourselves to use guns or just use knives to kill them. Either way using a knife will take away a lot of our energy" I commented
Edens eyes widened and she replied "I agree, we need to take measures for our survival. Jace is the most athletic out of us all, she can also hunt but she might need my help. We need to come up with roles for all of us and see who can be the main person of our needs."
Ren nodded and pointed at the forest, "what are you trying to say.." I asked Ren "if we wanna survive we need to go in the woods and find a place there, or make one.
"You might have a point." I looked down in disappointment
After some silence I pulled out a notebook from my backpack and a pencil
"here's our roles" I said as the pencil made sounds against the paper as I wrote
main hunter: Jace
main fighter: Jace
main strategyzer: Eden
backups: Badger, Ren.
I closed the notebook and opened my bag to put my stuff back in when I heard thunder.
"Fucking god. Worst timing." I expressed in an agitated mood- "I'm sorry but Your attitude isn't going to get us anywhere. Either suck it up and deal with it or get us all killed." Eden interrupted me as she took the notebook from the bag "seriously?? ROLES??" She held her hands at her mouth preventing herself from making any loud noises.
my ears turned red from embarrassment And I snatched the notebook back and took my bag with me as I stormed away into the woods.

eden POV: I didn't mean to make her upset, but it's probably a sign I shouldn't mess with her head that much. I know she was trying I just found it funny. Now she might be hesitant to properly express himself around me which made me feel like an ass. —Eden pov finished.
I curled up behind a tree feeling so embarrassed after my crush had just laughed at my idea.
I heard sounds of leaves cracking and footsteps, I looked to my side and saw Eden.
She held out her hand as my cheeks flushed, I grabbed her hand and she quietly walked me back to where we were staying.

The rain poured down my hair while I looked down hoping for something good in this crisis. We reached our desired location and it seemed so eerie. I know it was temporary but seriously, it looked burned down. It was in the forest away from most zombies but sooner or later they'll find a way in here to kill us. I opened the door to an unsurprised Ren While he nodded his head in disapproval, he put his head back down and I looked to my right to badger struggling to get at least one bar of connection on his phone.
i placed my bag on the floor and sat down in relief grateful with the fact I'm alive. I reached into my pocket for warmth after running in the rain to a snack bar.
I tried to quietly remove the wrapper but failed, I saw ren quickly turn his head in my direction putting his hand out for a piece. "Fiiiine" i sighed and ripped a piece for him. I giggled and ate the snack.
after I felt gloomy and my body felt tired. My vision became blurry, my eyelids felt heavy. I let myself fall asleep on Eden's lap.

Her screams of agony gave me a headache while she screamed "FUCK FUCK HELP ME!!" She screamed, her legs being scratched and bit into. The creature made its way up to her torso, she kept pleading "IM BEGGING YOU." It tore open her insides as he flesh clapped and all I could hear is whining. "mgh, please." was the last thing I heard from the old woman. My guilt made its way into my body causing the trees to shake. The leaves fell, the grass turned blood red.
"Wake up." I heard a muffled voice. The voice was comforting to say the least. Her voice, I quickly got up thanking her. She looked confused and handed me a toothbrush, hair brush, water bottle and toothpaste. "There's a pond on the left. You can go clean yourself over there." she patted my back and signaled me to the pond.
After practicing hygiene I felt hungry.
