» Skeppy's POV «
Eastwood's Halloween school dance was coming up in two days. It was an ordinary Wednesday, except the fact girls were asking their boyfriend or crush out to the dance. I wanted to ask Bad but he seemed so busy since the night of baseball practice. The third bell had rang and I was heading to the library. We always met there to chat or just read. I didn't have the biggest interest in reading. Every day I came to the library, Bad seemed to have a new book open before him. Today he had the same book he had yesterday: Coraline. There was a half empty cup of coffee sitting to the side of him.
"How are you today?" I ask as I sit beside him. He placed the book down on the carpet, looking into my eyes.
"Doing pretty good. I didn't sleep the greatest last night so the teachers are letting me slip with drinking coffee during class." I remembered hearing him walk around the dorm last night to tire himself. It was unusual for him to not sleep well.
"I could say I'm doing good today too. Did you notice everyone's going around and asking their crush to the dance Friday?" He sighed. Was he annoyed about people doing that?
"Yeah. I was thinking about going by myself just to kinda hang out and maybe talk to a few people.." He picked the book back up, continuing to read.
"Oh. Well, no one has asked me to the dance. I was wondering if you'd like to come with me to the dance? I understand if you wanna sit this dance out or just hang with friends," He set the book back down, looking directly at me.
"How can I decline the offer? Of course I'll come with you to the dance!" I felt him wrap his arms around me and pull me closer.
He seems to never say no.
Maybe he actually enjoys being around me.
The bell all of a sudden rang.
"Hm, that's strange. The bell is supposed to ring five minutes from now," I raised an eyebrow.
"Better head to class I guess," He wrapped his arms around me, hugging me tightly. I watched as he walked out of the library, book and coffee in hand.
Why does today have to go by so slow?

It was Thursday morning. I was a little anxious about the dance tomorrow, acknowledging the fact almost everyone would be there in Halloween costumes.
They seriously had the brightest idea to have the dance weeks before Halloween?
I liked to argue with myself sometimes with the choices the school made. After they had moved the green house out of the school and farther away from the property, I began to complain about how we had to walk through half the forest behind the school to get to it. Sometimes I'd let my feelings about it out to Skeppy. He always seemed to understand, even though he wasn't in the schools gardening club. He had a big interest in the seed packets I occasionally bring back to the dorm. I once brought a full pepper back. We had dared each other to bite into it. We regretted doing so after the spice had defeated our tastebuds. As usual, the third bell had rang and I was patiently waiting for Skeppy to arrive while I read.
"Reading the same book still!?" I hear the familiar voice, the boy sitting next to me.
I had been reading the same book for three days now. I liked the book and hooked to what would happen next. I usually fly through books and finish them within a day. This one I wanted to slowly read and enjoy. I take my attention off the page I was on, eyeing a book Skeppy and set in front of me.
"What's that?" I ask as I pick up the book, examining it.
"You like big books so I checked it out for you. It's called Warrior Cats: TigerHeart's Shadow." Skeppy took the book from my hand, flipping through the pages.
"Oh so now you take a liking into books," I tease him.
"I just thought you'd like it so I actually for once checked out a book." He set the book into my back pack which set behind me.
"Ready for the dance tomorrow night?" He seemed to be constantly asking me the same question since this morning.
"Of course silly. What are we dressing up as?" We hadn't thought of that.
I was going as a butler, trying something new for this years dance.
"I was thinking about going as a secret agent!" Skeppy began to giggle.
"Aren't you a little to old for that?" I laugh with him.
"If you were me, it'd be the best idea ever. I pulled it off last year and I'm definitely doing it again this year." He pushed my glasses, which I didn't even notice were falling off, back up.
"I'm considering going as a butler-" I was soon cut off.
"A secret agent and a butler! Perfect combo!" He wrapped an arm around me, chuckling.
The bell rang, separating us until chemistry and the end of the day.
As I walked down the hall, I glanced at my phone which buzzed. It was a message surprisingly from Skeppy.
Skeppy <3
Look behind you ;)
12:31 p.m.You
Okay muffin head
12:31 p.m.I looked behind me to see Skeppy standing there.
What does he need?
I walk up to him, mildly confused.
"Need something?" I questioned.
"I begged the teachers into letting us leave after the fourth bell of the day. But I also wanted to give you this!" I felt him slide something onto my wrist. It was a bead bracelet with his name on it. He had one on his wrist with my name on it.
"Now c'mon!" He grabbed my hand, dragging me downstairs and out the school doors. We eventually made it to a slushee stand. There weren't usually any slushee stands around this time of year, but it sounded good to have one now.
"Hello sir, how may I help you?" The man running the stand peeked his head out of the sliding window.
"One tigers blood and blue raspberry on one side!" The man nodded, taking the five dollar bill from Skeppy's hand.
He eventually handed us the slushee, two spoons sitting on either side. We began to eat the slushee, enjoying the sweet treat. Skeppy opened his mouth as I was bringing the spoon to my mouth. I rolled my eyes, feeding him the part of the slushee that set on my spoon. He stood up, walking around the table to sit by me instead of across from me. He rested his head on my shoulder, letting out a noise for me to give him another spoonful. He took the spoonful of slushee, cringing at how cold it was.
"So you really begged the teachers to let us leave school to bring me here?" I said while taking another bite of slushee.
"I just wanted to spend time with you," I looked over at him, our noses brushing.
"But you spend time with me after school." I stared into his eyes, feeling a smile creep across my face.
He rolled his eyes, leaning forward until our lips met. He cupped his hands on my cheeks, refusing to pull away. We soon broke apart, gasping for air. After catching our breath, we laughed. The smaller boy's cheeks were a light shade of pink.
"What're you blushing about?" He stared at me, still blushing.
"Your eyes are practically glowing," I realized the sun was pointing directly at my face.
He grabbed the empty cup that did have the slushee in it, walking towards the trash can to throw it away. He sat back down on the bench, laying his back on my lap. I stroked a hand through his hair, smiling.

I grabbed his hand, setting it on my face. I felt his hand rub my cheek. A smile made its way across my face. He sat me back up, resting his forehead against mine.
I love you..
