If you're reading this I apologise for what I'm about to do. Harry will also have one of these letters. I'm your fathers best friend Peter. I work for Voldemort and he wants you and Harry dead. I don't want to but I bear the dark mark, I have no choice or that's what I like to think. In a few minutes me and Voldemort will have apparated to your house, you see there's a prophecy about you and your brother: you can together destroy Voldemort. He wants you dead and I can only help him. You will never get this letter as you'll be dead, but even though I'm assisting I love you.

I've taken you to Wool's Orphanage, your brother is going to his aunts, it is too dangerous for you both to be together and for that I am sorry. You don't know this yet, or at least you won't remember but you're a witch. A half-blood witch, Lily (your mother) a muggleborn and James (your father) a pureblood.
