"Done... whew..." I finally relax and loosen my shoulders. Because of the removal of the JS program kitchen, it appears that they supplemented me with a mini-fridge. I didn't recognize it as one at first with how dinged up it was, but with a little elbow grease I cleaned it up nicely. Right now my dinner from my mom is sitting in there, my last meal from her for a while. She made it for me just before leaving so that I could settle into dorm life properly. She recounted how her mother cooked her a big meal to take with her to the dorm when she left for Seido, and she wanted to do the same for me.

Ah. I miss her. I should watch a video of one of her analyses, that'll perk me up.

I squat in front of the tv, DVD player combo. As I open the DVD case to her analysis, I notice a note.

'I knew you'd miss me! My little journalist! You should be making friends instead of watching old videos of me! Buuuut I'll let this one slide for right now! But! I have an assignment for you. There's a boy on your team that I know, and I've worked with his dad in the past. I'm sure if you mention my name, he'll open up to you~ ♡ His name is Takigawa Chris Yuu! And his dad is Animal! I'm sure you two will get along fine! He's a sweetie!'

The note hits exactly where I need, lifting my spirits enough to gently close the CD case. That's right. This is something I can't keep doing. I need to build strength on my own. I need to leave this feminine weakness behind, I need this program to succeed beyond its wildest dreams.

In order to do that, this team needs to succeed. I need a team worthy of writing about. That's how mom did it. That's how I'll do it.

I take a deep breath before placing the DVD with the others. I'm about to take my hand away when I'm startled by sudden scurrying. 8 legs crawl out from behind the old TV, causing me to jump backward. I bite my tongue to prevent myself from screaming, but all that happens is that I let out a more muffled screech.

'Okay, okay, okay, calm down, it's just a spider, just a spider! I can handle this! I can handle this!' I think to myself as I reach for an extra pair of wood chopsticks that I can throw away later. It stops to take a rest as I shakily reach for it. Within an instant, I snatch it's thorax with my chopsticks, gripping it firmly. I internally scream as I tense up, quickly and shakily run towards the door of my dorm. Within an instant, I open it, quickly toss the spider on the captain of the baseball team as he's about to knock, and slam the door shut again.

...

Wait.

Screams are immediately followed by my realization, as I hear several male voices panicking and dancing around to check if my impromptu arachnid projectile is on them or not. Just like before, without thinking, I swing the door open full force.

"OH MY GOD I'M SO SORRY! IS IT ON YOU! I'LL KILL IT!" I scream, armed with my notebook. I swing it around, but it only adds to the chaos of the situation as I wave it around with no direction. I end up whacking a boy with spiked-up brown hair the most, causing him to only yell at me.

Ah. first impressions are hard, but I don't think I've ever screwed up this much...
