*Searching for Zumi*
"Honey is starting to get dark and we still haven't found him." His mother said in a sorrowful tone.
Tears wanted to pour out of the boy's eyes. "That's exactly why we should continue looking! We haven't found him yet! He's gotta be around here somewhere!"
She sighed. "10 more minutes and we're going home."
"Fine!"
*10 minutes later*
no no no this could not be happening
Yoongi couldn't loose him
Zumi was his only friend for the longest time.
To be honest he was only friends with Eelo because their parents were friends, they didn't really get along that well. Eelo always wanted to do sports stuff, but Yoongi just wanted to stay inside.. Outside things were too bothersome.
Plus, most of the time Zumi was inside so Yoongi also wanted to be inside.
That's another reason they didn't get along. Eelo always scared Zumi away. No matter how many times Yoongi told him Zumi doesn't like to be picked up by strangers, he still tried over and over again.
"Cmon, the sun isn't even above the horizon anymore. And hey, maybe Zumi came back and is waiting for us at home!" His mother said trying to cheer him up.
A small ting of hope worked its way into Yoongi's heart.
Yeah, he's just waiting for me at home
*at home*
Yoongi came running into the house, muddy boots and all.
"Dad!! Is Zumi here?!?" He asked anxiously.
"Zumi? Haven't seen the thing. But I did find a hole in the yard so I fixed it up real good. Nuth'n gonna get into our yard now." His dad said causing Yoongi's heart to crack into bits and pieces.
this couldn't be happening
Yoongi ran to his room upstairs, immediately closing the door. He made sure not to slam it so he didn't worry his mother, but he very much wanted to.
Tears poured down the boy's scrunched up face. Why did Eelo always have to mess with Zumi?
It just made him even more unhappy, how could someone do something like that if they knew how the other felt?
The worst part of all this was that he had to go to school tomorrow and face the person who made him loose his best friend.
Yoongi cried and cried, so much that when his mom came up to tell him dinner was ready, he was still sniffling. He didn't want to worry her though, so he sucked it up and told her he'd be down in a bit.
She knew Yoongi was crying, but she didn't know how to make him feel better, so she just went along like normal.
Or tried to at least, she was a fairly readable person.
Yoongi smacked his cheeks a couple times to try and make it seem like he wasn't crying. There was only so much he could do, as he couldn't shake off the red around his eyes.
Yeah, he was worried about worrying his mother, but also, he was worried about angering his father. It was bad enough when Yoongi told him he didn't have any interests in any kind of sports, only sleeping, if that was an option.
Yoongi sighed and went down to the dinner table. Pork, his least favorite, was on his plate where his spot at the table was.
This alone made him want to cry, but his parents gaze kept him from releasing the liquid emotions.
Cooking was a thing both Yoongi's parents did equally. Tonight it was his dad that prepared the meal. He knew very well that Yoongi didn't really like pork.
His mother also knew this, so she never made it. Yoongi was thankful for that at least.
"Were you... crying?"
Yoongi jumped. He looked over at his dad who had just asked the question he feared the most.
He didn't dare say a word. He knew that if he did it would result in immediate tears. His dad finished chewing his food and cleared his throat. "It's just a cat, the thing was in the way all the time anyways. We have no need for such a thing."
Yoongi wanted to scream that Zumi wasn't just a cat, that he was his best friend as well, and that without him he wouldn't be able to function normally.
But he couldn't say that. No, that would cause everything to be much worse.
"It was extra money paying for it's food and litter, i'm glad it's gone." His father said, making even his mother upset.
"Now that's uncalled for. That cat was lovely, your just so cold you couldn't warm up to him." She said in defense.
He looked at her and said sternly, "It was a waist of money and you know it."
She got up with a huff and left the table. "I cannot believe you." She said quietly while walking away, leaving Yoongi alone with his father.
He looked at Yoongi with the same look as when he said he didn't want to play sports.
Staring at his plate to avoid the gazed, Yoongi jumped again when his father spoke again. "What do you have to say for yourself making your mother leave the table like that?"
His fault? There's no way that that was his fault.
Yoongi just glared at his father and left the table. There was no way he was dealing with him any longer.
