I zig-zag down the street. My dad told me to always zig-zag if I'm being chased and now's probably the only time I'll ever use that tip in my life.
It was just a little mistake, I didn't know, I couldn't have known. Leaping over a lost dog licking his filthy paws in the alley, I look up to see the end of the alley approaching. I glance back over my shoulder to see the three black figures hot on my heals.
Oh the little mistake. That was... a little gambling debt. Nothing outrageous, just a couple thousand dollars... I mean I guess that is quite a lot, but what ever, not the point, the point is I'm now at the end of the alley and three guys twice the size of me are wanting the money and don't agree with my little mistake theory. I turn around to face them still trying to think of what to do.
"So Link, what'll it be? You give us the money or we give you a taste of our punishment?" Said one with a scar running across with forehead.
"Well... if you really wanted your money you'd let me go so I can keep living to get you the money." I stutter. Ugh, stuttering is so unprofessional they probably think I'm like 16. And why did I say that? They're no idiots, they'll beat me up just enough to scare me into paying.
"Hard of hearing, sonny?" My ears respond to the warm breath in my them. One of the other men are standing right next to me talking into my left ear. I come back to the situation. The man with the scar motions to the third guy who's a legit giant and my already sweaty forehead starts drowning as he walks toward me with anger in his eyes. I try to move to the left as he reaches out to take hold of my blazer collar, but bump into the other man who grabs my arms as the giant throws a fist into my stomach. I double over and crumple to the asphalt floor. The man's hand starts toward my shoulder to pull me up for another punch, but my strictly trained hands fly to block them.
"What the...?" The man rages.
"I didn't want to do this but you all are asking for it." I spin around and sweep the giant's feet out from under him. Wow, they're literal sticks of steel. My legs are gonna be bruised from that.
I make eye contact with the scared man and his face turns darker and more scaly than before. I stand and throw my elbow in the guys face still focusing on scar man. I come right to his face.
"You know... I don't think I'll pay you because I know that you have nothing on me. You have dirty fingers and I think you owe me." I growl at the guy as he inches back.
"I have no idea what you mean." The scar moves as his mouth stammers out the words.
"Oh yes you do. You've been cheating in your own games. How could anyone not notice?! You're painfully obvious about it."
The mans face falls and I stop forcing him back. I whip my leg up and the man flys agains the brick wall. I looked back at the giant man and the other guy still recovering and than back to the man with the scar giving a small smirk.
"See you around. I hope y'all don't get caught. Oh, but you should know I'm terrible at keeping secrets." I turn and march down the alley.
Those ninja lessons really paid off...
