"What were you saying about not going anywhere with me?" Yoongi teased as he began driving out of the parking lot.
You sunk into the passenger seat, too ashamed to even be in the car with him. "I would've gladly remained in the hospital on my own. I'm only here cause I feel sorry for Tae-seol. I can't trust that you'll watch her cause all you ever did before was sleep," you rolled your eyes, remembering the times you left the newly born Tae-seol with him.
"That's all she did at the time too!" he countered. "You act like I did something wrong. I mean maybe I did, but I really can't figure it out," he frowned. "All I did was love you and Tae-seol, y/n. I worked countless hours to make sure you two would have everything you ever needed, and on top of that, I had to care for you both too. Was my love not enough for you to stay?"
For the first time in years, you weren't sure what to say to him. You spent hours a day composing letters you'd never mail to him, writing text messages you never had the guts to send, and thinking about what you'd say if he ever confronted you. Turns out all you did was squander your time as you now sat beside him, vacuously staring at the road ahead of you and wasting the chance to tell him everything you reflected on these past few years.
"Eomma!" Tae-seol's voice broke the silence and caught your attention. "Is you happy that me found Appa?" she asked as her tiny fingers played with the cloth material of her car seat.
You furrowed your eyebrows and averted your gaze to the backseat, "Tae-seol, sweetheart, what are you talking about?"
"Y-you," Yoongi cleared his throat and kept his eyes glued on the road. "You never changed your emergency contact," he answered your question quietly.
"Yeah!" Tae-seol shouted. "I found him in the hallway!"
"Sweetheart, let the adults talk," you handed her your phone to keep her busy. "I'm so sorry about that. I know you hate being woken up."
"Don't apologize for something you had no control over, y/n," he quickly showed you his gummy smile. "I knew you wouldn't want me to be the first person you saw when you woke up, but I needed to make sure you were fine and that my daughter was okay too. I love you, y/n. I don't think that's ever gonna change, no matter how hard I try to make it. I don't need you to return those feelings, but just please, stop keeping Tae-seol away from me."
You never thought you'd hear those words leave his mouth, and you were certain that he wanted nothing to do with your daughter. Heck, you've never even seen him spend quality time with her. Never once did it cross your mind that he may have loved her as much as you did. But then again, you never thought Min Yoongi would willingly walk back into your life.
He never tried to fight for you and Tae-seol when you left, so why would he want to come back?
"Does Appa love Tae-seol too?"
You turned to the toddler and said sternly, "Tae-seol, what did I tell you about minding others' business!"
"Y/n, she's just a kid," Yoongi sighed. "She can barely talk properly. There's no need to be mad at her for something she's not old enough to understand."
His words couldn't help but make you ponder: were you the one who messed up? It was obvious you couldn't take care of yourself, and seeing as Tae-seol was a rather disobedient child, you had terrible parenting skills. And as if that wasn't bad enough, you had Taehyung scolding you every day of your life. It seemed to fit in together; to you, it was the only logical reason as to why Yoongi never put up a fight when you tried leaving.
Because who would want to marry a screw-up?
