"I-I-I'm sorry, sir, there's nothing I can really do for y-"

Miko's eyes widened as he was slapped right across the face, the skin there darkening. Tears welled up his his pretty eyes but he quickly wiped them away so he didn't get made fun of for crying as well.

"Stupid fish, go get your goddamn manager."

He just had to be the only one working the desk at the moment, if his coworker hadn't been sick in bed with would've gone so much smoother because she just so happened to not be a fish.

"My apologies, sir,"

He gave a small sweet smile, folding his hands out on the desk in front of himself.

"Unfortunately, my manager is in a serious business meeting with HR."

The man slammed his hands down on the marble counter with a roar of anger, utterly pissed at the small koi.

"This is why they shouldn't have stupid fish working the front desk when they should be providing visual entertainment!"

Miko blinked once, and then twice, he knew that the standard for any kind of fish that could shift was a visual entertainer depending on how they looked, but he hadn't realized it was that much of a thing. The hotel didn't even have any tanks with shifters and was themed on underwater and the beach.

"Sir, please keep your voice down as to not disturb other guests in the establishment. I am sorry that I cannot get you the current manager, if you continue to further yell at me I will have to call security and have you escorted out and off of the premises."

The koi really hated acting like the robot of customer service people he had seen, but that was the only way that he could get out of this without a bruise.

Eventually after a few extra choice words, the man that had slapped him had left, and the person to take over his shift had arrived. Miko thanked the person taking over for him and went to get his stuff and leave for the safety of his small car.
