Miko : Backstory

Murakami Miko, born into money, born into a family of shifters.

As every other shifter, once he hit the age of five, he was brought into the doctors office for his yearly check up. Though due to his nature, and his inability at such a young age to control his form correctly, he ended up being classified as a stage three threat, the second lowest while a stage one was the highest threat.

He was "too quiet" and "non-responsive", so Miko was taken into custody for a year and a half to get tested on so that he'd be confirmed that he wasn't a threat.

Regular humans were scared of shifters, even if they shifted into so much as a fish. Therefore, every child of shifters was tested on to confirm them as a non-threat. And if the parents of the child refused to let their child stay, they'd be fined a good sum.

Fortunately, the Murakamis had enough money for the fine, though they still signed it off to let Miko stay.

It was only supposed to be about a month or so, but due to Miko's misbehavior due to being taken away from his parents and older brother, he got bumped up a stage and had to stay even longer.

After that year and half, Miko forgot about it for the most part when he hit the age of ten. Though, if he gets taken away from someone or something that he's attached to so suddenly, he gets flashbacks and usually has a panic attack due to it.

Miko, at the age of twelve, was sent to live with his aunt, Nakami, as his older brother, Tensei, had just died. Leaving him as the only child left, his parents couldn't take good enough care of him due to grief.

After about a year or so, on his thirteenth birthday, his parents took him back, taking him out of public school and homeschooling him.

They didn't want what happened to Tensei to happen to him, so they kept him away from anything they deemed as "threatening" or a "bad influence". That included any kind of sex-ed or basic protection.

He graduated at home at seventeen, and moved out the day after he turned eighteen to go stay with his aunt while he got a decent paying job and a small apartment in Osaka, rather than where his parents lived in Kyoto.

He now works as a front desk manager at SweetSalt hotel and resort, his air-headed and kind personality having gotten him the job. The job? yes, friends? Unfortunately, due to his innocent nature and personality, people pushed him away.
