It's been a month. Sky didn't want to leave. Her mom wasn't lying. She really had changed. She went to rehab and therapy. It's been fun and Sky packed all her clothes in case she had to pack up and leave really quickly.
"So, are you sure you don't want to stay longer? I know it's no skyscraper or anything, but you used to love this place." Her mom said as they sat in the front yard in their $15 beach chairs.
"I do love this place." Sky said softly as she looked around the neighborhood. "But I miss Tony."
"Is that all you miss?" Her mom asked with a smirk on her face.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh come on. You know what I mean. The boy. Super tall, hunky, had the bad dye job." Sky nodded sadly. "You can't tell me he wasn't in love with you."
"Yeah...we actually dated." Sky mumbled.
"Dated? As I'm not anymore?"
"Yup."
"Well, what happened? He seemed like a great guy and you're a great girl, so what happened?"
"I broke up with him?" Sky said. She was now picking at her nails, peeling off the nail polish that was fresh 2 weeks ago.
"Why?"
"Dad...Tony didn't like him. He said it was ruining our relationship and he was already really mad at me. Me and Pietro were never going to date forever. Relationships that young never do. I was thinking logically. If we were going to break up anyways, I might as well do it and have a good relationship with Tony." Her mother sighed and ran her hand through her uneven blonde hair.
"For such a smart girl, you are so dumb." She said. Sky nodded. She could feel tears swell in her eyes. She had been missing Pietro more than ever. She came here thinking that some time away would help her forget about him and get over him, but it only made her miss him more. "Oh sweetie, it's ok."
"No it's not. I ruined it, like I ruin everything. He told me he loved me and I broke his heart. Why am I like this?"
"Because of me." Sky shook her head. This had nothing to do with her mother and everything to do with her being unstable. "I've never been a good role model and I never taught you about relationships.."
"It's not your fault. I was stupid and made the worst mistake of my life."
"Ok, maybe it can be fixed. When did you break up?"
"95 days ago." Her mom nodded. "Also the last time we talked." Her mom sighed and gave her daughter a hug. Sky was hesitant at first but she wrapped her arms around her mother in return. "What's this for?"
"A goodbye. You're going back home, alright?" Sky nodded softly. She knew this day was coming, but she wasn't ready to leave just yet. She finally had a good relationship with her mom.
"I don't want to go."
"I know, but I already called your dad last night. He misses you too and it's been so nice to have you back, but I can't keep you here. It's not right."
"I love you mom."
"I love you too."
—
"Hi dad." Sky said as she ran up to Tony and hugged him tightly.
"Hey, I have to go talk to your mom and then we'll be on way." She nodded and took a seat, amazed by the large plane.
"Alright, here you go. This is enough money to get a nice house alright. Get your life together alright and then maybe we can talk about you seeing her again."
