"Hey, Jess," Khalil says to me.
Hey.

"Look," Khalil says, pointing to a boy in a store.
What? I look around, trying to find what she's pointing at.

"Him right there," she says eagerly.
The blonde? I look back with a questionable face.

"Yes." She blushes.
Yeah, he's cute. I had sex with him. He's not all that good. I smirk with a playful smile.

"Are you serious?!" she says nervously.
I chuckle a little before answering. No, I'm just kidding. I don't even know him. I'd like to know him though.

"I saw him first," Khalil said, laughing.
"Girl!" I laugh with her. Let me stop. I don't need a little boy, I need a man.

"Umm, how old are you?!" Khalil said, with an eyebrow raised up.
Old enough.

"No, honey, stay 16, sweetie. Best thing for you," Khalil said, patting me on my shoulder.
I wish I could.

"Hey, baby," Trey says, walking over and putting his arm around me.
Trey. Boy, if you don't get your hands off me. I say, removing his arm.

"What's wrong? I thought we was together?" he says with a confused look.
Boy! I think not. Go find another girl to play with.

"I wanna play with you!" he says in a begging tone.
No! I said, laughing. Get off, Trey. I push him off from touching me.

"Hey, Trey," Khalil says to Trey.
"Hey, Khalil."

"Do you know him?" Khalil asks Trey.
"Who?" he says, looking around the store.

That blonde boy. I said, pointing across the store.
"Ooh, that's Aron," he says, shrugging.

"He's cute." Khalil starts blushing again.
"He in my gym and writers class."

"Can he be in my class? He so cute," Khalil said, biting her lip.
Then go speak and stop being scary. I say, brushing my shoulders against hers.

"I will just wait till Monday."
"Khalil, it's Friday," Trey says with confusion.

"I know."
Why are you being so scary? I asked.

"It gives me time to map it out."
When you talking to a boy, you just do, don't think.

"Well, I have to go home anyway, so I'll text you later," Khalil says, walking away.
Okay, bye.

"You want me to take you home?" Trey asks me.
Yeah, I say, rolling my eyes and laughing.

"I got a question."
What.

"Why won't you be my girl?" he asks.
We are friends.

"And what does that supposed to mean?"
Can we just stay friends?

"Maybe I want more."
You're asking the wrong person. Let's just head home.

A short car ride later, we pull in front of my house, and we kinda sit in the car with awkward silence.

"So..." he says, breaking the silence.
What?

"We're sitting here." His eyes getting all popped-eyed.

I just look back and turn to look at my front door. He leans over and unbuckles mine and his seat belt. He leans over and kisses me with his soft lips. I pull back, but he pulls me back. He grabs my face and continues to kiss me.

"Stop!" I fall back to the passenger side of the car and grab my purse.
"What?" he says with a confused look.

This was not okay, I said, wiping my face.
"Jess."

I'm serious, I say angrily.

I get out the car and storm up the steps. I walk inside and see my mom in the living room with the lamp on. I fix myself up before walking past the wall.

You stayed up? I said nervously.
"No, I have work. Where have you been?"

Out with Khalil.
"Who dropped you off?" she says calmly.

Trey did.
"You're on punishment until I say you're off. You're very lucky I don't lay my hands on you. It's eleven o'clock at night," she says, yelling slightly.

It's Friday, I implied.
"Ha! I don't give a crap if it was spring break. You're sixteen. I want you to be in this house at ten, and that's final. Not a minute after ten, not two minutes after ten. Ten on the dot. Understood!?"

I guess so.
"Well, I guess you just made your punishment longer," she says, putting on her jacket and walking out the door.

Yeah, goodnight to you too.
"Bye, little girl. Don't forget I'm the parent! You're the child! This is me being nice and not laying my hands on you, Jessica!!!" She slams the door behind her.
