The Setup

Gala

It was the day of the gala, and I was pissed.

Sophia wasn't coming. Jonah said it was because she wasn't feeling good, but Sophia told me it was because Corbyn thought it was too dangerous for her while she was pregnant.

If it was too dangerous, clearly it wasn't for music like Jonah said it was. But did I really believe him when he said it was? No.

I showered, lightly curled my hair. I put on some subtle makeup, so it went along with the dress. I put on a pair of shoes I already owned because the shoes didn't really matter as they'd be covered by the length of the dress.

Once I was fully ready, I walked down the stairs to see Sophia laying on the sofa with a bowl of popcorn placed directly on her bump.

"What yah watching?" I smiled to Sophia as she whipped her head in my direction.

"Oh my god, Y/n!" Sophia squealed as she sat up

"It doesn't look too bad, hey?" I did a little spin

"Are you kidding? You look amazing! Now I wish I was going even more" Sophia pouted, crossing her arms over her chest

"Why don't you? You don't look sick now, and I could really use a girl I know" I pleaded until I heard a throat being cleared behind us

"My babies are staying home tonight, sorry Y/n" Corbyn chuckled, walking over to Sophia.

"Holy shit" I smiled, turning around to see Jonah is a nicely fitted black suit with a red pocket square. His hair was gelled lightly making it look messy but still acceptable for an event like that.

His eyes trailed my body up and down a few times, making his smile grow bigger and bigger each time until his eyes met mine.

"You look very handsome" I walked over to Jonah, fixing the knot in his black tie before wrapping my hands around his neck.

"You look, breathtaking" Jonah grabbed onto my hips tightly before placing a kiss onto my lips.

Jonah looked behind me at Sophia and Corbyn before reaching into his jacket pocket. He shoved something into his mouth before holding a pill to my lips with a smile.

"Thanks" I whispered as I let him place it onto my tongue, hoping for it to calm my nerves.

"You're gonna need it" He winked, kissing my lips once more

"Let's go, love birds" Corbyn chirped

"Bye Sophia" I waved as Jonah grabbed my hand and we left the house.

Jonah drove the three of us to a lovely looking building, that looked overly fancy.

There was couples lined up to get in, all dressed in suits and fancy long dresses.

Jonah and Corbyn got out first while I sat in amazement. Jonah walked around to my side, opening the door for me to get out.

Jonah placed his hand on my lower back and we started walking past all the people patiently waiting in line.

"Stay close to me, okay?" Jonah whispered down at me as we made it to the front door.

"Marais, Besson, good seeing you again" The bouncer said with no expression on his face before he let us in.

We walked in and we immediately walked into a large looking ballroom, full of round tables with white table cloths over them. In the middle were pink lilies and lit candles.

Large chandeliers hung low from the ceiling and a bright spot light shined directly onto a stage at the back wall.

As we walked further in, many different men and women came up to say hello to Jonah and Corbyn while I awkwardly stood to the side as Jonah not once loosened the grip on my waist.

It was only awkward when all the people came up and stared at me but not once did I get introduced or even asked what my name was or who I was to Jonah.

I spotted Jack with Daniel and Zach and two girls looking way fancier than I was.

The girl beside Zach had long blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. She was in a light pink dress and she looked amazing.

The girl next to Daniel had long black hair and lovely brown eyes. She was in a navy blue dress, she looked gorgeous.

Jack's eyes locked with mine and he sent me a smile. I politely waved back causing Jonah to pull on my hip, pulling me into his chest.

"Behave please" He whispered and I nodded before he continued the conversation he was having with a new couple.

I had no idea what he meant by 'behave' but I stopped looking around incase I made eye contact with anyone I shouldn't.

It was just Jack though, I knew him, he knew me, what was the big deal?

The people Jonah were talking to walked away and I still stayed against Jonah, worried I'd make the wrong move.

"I'm sorry, these things are just a big deal and I can't have my girlfriend waving to other guys without word spreading around that you're a whore" My mouth dropped open and I stared up at Jonah.

People would think I'm a whore for waving at a friend?

"I'm sorry, what?" I gave him a chance to repeat it, just to make sure I heard him right.

"It's very common here, men bring the best looking women, even if they are just cheap hookers. This place is just a place to impress your enemies without being able to kill them" I knew this was for the gang!

"Whoa, so you make music with all these people, huh?" I called him out

"Don't do this" Jonah sighed before he started walking towards the table with the rest of the guys.

When we got to the table, the two girls made eye contact with me and I panicked. I never really had many girl friends, so that felt like a whole new experience for me.

"Y/n, this is my girlfriend, Kay" Zach smiled as he spun Kay around, causing her to let out a small laugh

"And this is my girlfriend, Franny" Daniel smiled, kissing her cheek

"And this is my girlfriend, Corbyn" Jack chuckled, going to kiss Corbyn's cheek but Corbyn pushed him away with a laugh

"Hi, it's nice to meet you" I smiled, giving the girls a nod, not really knowing what to do

"Anyone want a drink?" Jack offered, filling the awkward silence that I was probably supposed to fill

"I'll just have a coke please" I smiled but Jack gave me a wink

The lot threw out drink orders and Corbyn went with Jack to get us all drinks.

Jonah pulled out a chair for me to sit down before he sat beside me. There was a chair between Zach and I for either Jack or Corbyn. There was another seat between Franny and Kay, so there was the perfect amount of seats for us.

Jack and Corbyn walked back as everyone was making small talk at the table. Jack placed my drink down in front of me with a sly smile.

I smiled giving him a small thank you, feeling someone's eyes burn into my skin.

I took a small sip, immediately tasting strong whiskey.

I tried to keep a straight face so no one knew there was alcohol in it. Jack laughed which caused more attention to fall on us.

"You okay?" Jonah smiled, placing a hand of my thigh

"Just peachy" I smiled back before he continued his conversation with Daniel

Jack sat down beside me and we talked while people kept coming up to the table to speak with Jonah.

He must have been big stuff if everyone here seemed to kiss his ass

"Hey baby" My body tensed as soon as I heard that voice.

I turned around seeing Erin walking over towards our table, not taking her eyes off Jonah.

She was in a long red dress, with a low cut in the front and a slit going up the side that showed off her hip bone.

Erin walked up behind Jonah, placing her hands on his shoulders, slowly running them down his chest before whispering something in his ear.
