Younger brother: Max age 14
Older brother: Elias age 21
(I only named them cuz it was hard to write without names, but you can name them whatever you'd like :)

"M/n?" The eldest breathed out, behind him a preteen slammed the doors shut with Ethan who'd helped him.

"Y/n?" The middle schooler questioned and walked aside him before seeing his older sister.

She was staring at the two with a mix of emotions, considering she hasn't seen them in over years after they'd left her in that household alone with her father, there wasn't exactly great tension between the three.

Of course she moved out soon after they left, but even then did she hold a grudge over their heads like a stone under a lake.

"Y/n, you know these guys?" Lawrence questioned, a puzzled look rushed over his face as Judy had her hand over Y/n's shoulder, rubbing circles onto her back with her thumb and the intention of keeping her calm.

"Uh yeah.. they're my brothers.. Elias and Max" she sighed pointing to each of her siblings as she shot an irritated glare to Lawrence, causing him to flinch in surprise from the sudden aggression suffocating almost everyone she stood near.

All eyes were on her, they didn't know she had siblings, it was like when they found out Ethan and Judy were cousins all over again.

"Y-you're uh- you're alive..." Elias stepped closer to her, opening his arms to her for a hug before she squinted her eyes at him warningly.

Elias was one of those smug, annoying men who only knew how to trick others and make jokes at the worst times possible.

Max on the other hand, was more quick witted and cold, mature but immature, Max was a petty individual and was easily irritated and embarrassed, but only his siblings could push his buttons like they did when they were little.

"And you're still mad.. ok, uhm.. thanks for saving our asses out there, we probably would've died if you guys didn't come" Elias sighed, scratching his head with a grateful smile plastered on his face as he thanked Ethan, Harry and Zion.

Max made himself comfortable, walking past the group and wandering close by to admire the crumbling school.

His eyes caught Y/n's, the two exchanging silent nods to one another as their own little language against their stupid brother.

Ethan soon noticed Y/n's tense body language and walked to her, pulling her aside to speak alone in an empty classroom.

Max watched them disappear soon after, eyes locked onto his sister in relief.

He never thought he'd ever be so happy reconnecting with one of his also broken family members in so long, but with seeing Y/n with many others made everything feel a little less scary in a decaying world.

Y/n also reminded him a lot of their mother, she even looked like her if she hadn't cut her hair.. it was comforting being around his sister, wether he were to admit it or not.

He probably never would, that would be too embarrassing...
______
"Your siblings huh?" Ethan questioned as Y/n slid the door close behind them.

He sat comfortably on a desk by the windows, the full moon that night had lighten up the classrooms by itself in a way the sun never could.

Gradually, Y/n sauntered over and leaned on the desk in front of him, letting the boy take in once again her petite figure like he always had when they hung out.

"Mm yeah.. sorry I didn't elaborate sooner, I told you all about my useless sob story so you can imagine when I saw them-" she laughed dryly, tears welled up in the corners of her eyes.

Ethan sighed when he saw them, Y/n was never good at holding in her tears, wether they were sad or angry ones, or the happy ones he adored so deeply...

"I'm sorry, I'm just really angry-" she laughed again, her hands wiped her face till the only evidence of her cry fest left was her now red, stuffy nose.

Slowly, Ethan pulled her into his chest, letting her relax in his touch as she breathed out shakily.

Y/n had a mix of emotions welling up inside her, just how many overwhelming situations did she have to go through?

She couldn't tell, she was angry, but relieved that they'd been alive and safe, unharmed from the dangers of the world at that time.

Ethan was a great friend...

He was her best friend, he was so patient with her, so gentle, he held her like he'd been handling a delicate porcelain doll in which any second it could break.

Ethan treated her so differently from the others in the group, he wondered if Y/n ever treated the others just as kindly as she'd did with him..

"You know, I have two sisters, ones older the others younger, kinda like you but my younger sister is only six" he muttered, Y/n sat back from his embrace and let his hand rest on her waist.

"Oh no.." she said, her face suddenly morphing into a worried expression.

"Oh, don't worry I'm sure they're safer than we are, they live abroad in a secluded area" Ethan smiled, letting a small hidden snicker out quietly as he watched her sigh in relief.

"That's good.. I was worried for a second..."

"You just worry about your own siblings.. I know it might be hard.. forgiving them.. but nows not exactly a good time to hold a grudge now is it?" He smiled awkwardly, caressing her cheek with his free hand.

Y/n smiled back, the red in her cheeks only deepening the more Ethan got handsy with their interactions.

"I'll keep that in mind" Y/n reached for the hand, burying her face in his palm before Lawrence began calling for them, something  about a group meeting.

The stilled air from before vaporized, like the world had started moving again.

There was silence between the two, faces red with embarrassment from the intimate interaction they just had.

"W-we should head up now..." Y/n let go of his hand as Ethan pulled away hesitantly.

They rubbed their necks and fixed their clothing awkwardly.

"Uh- yeah ahem.. let's go..." Ethan coughed out.

Although it started off anxiously, soon the two walked in comfortable silence, listening as the groups voices became coherent and clear.

Cheeks still blushed, they smiled at each other briefly before joining the others during the meeting.

Often they'd glance at each other, catching one another staring and looking away in embarrassment from being caught.

Elias watched them as they did, smiling to himself as he was happy.

Happy that Y/n had found someone to finally keep her from spiralling, someone to call her own.

One that would truly take care of her properly as he failed to do in the past.

He was happy she was loved...
